Oaks FC Secures Historic Promotion to the Ghana Women’s Leagues
Oaks FC, the women’s team of Accra Hearts of Oak, has made history by securing a place in next season’s Ghana Women’s Premier League following a dominant 4-1 victory over Rootz Sistas in the zonal playoffs.
With just one match to spare, the Oaks Ladies delivered a championship-worthy performance, signaling their intent with decisive goals from Victoria Yeboah, Amanda Mills, Fati Ibrahim, and Sarafina.
Fati Ibrahim set the tone with a thunderous free-kick to open the scoring, followed by a composed finish from Victoria Yeboah that sent Oaks supporters into celebration. Amanda Mills made it three, leaving the Rootz Sistas goalkeeper with no chance, and Sarafina sealed the emphatic win with a well-taken penalty goal that put the result beyond doubt.
Though Rootz Sistas managed to pull one back, the day belonged to Oaks FC, whose tactical discipline, attacking flair, and determination ensured their promotion to the elite division.
The victory cements Oaks FC as one of two teams from their zone set to qualify for the Ghana Women’s Premier League—a monumental achievement just two years after their formation.
With one match remaining against Samartex Ladies, Oaks FC can now look ahead with confidence as they prepare to compete among the country’s best next season. The final playoff game is scheduled for Friday at 3 PM, with Samartex also vying for promotion.
From dreams to reality—Oaks Ladies have arrived.
