Following recent reports of newly admitted Form One students being forced to sit on the floor or use cramped dining hall benches for lessons, the MoE confirmed this morning the delivery of over 3,000 mono desks (the school had requested 3,282).
This urgent action, facilitated by GETFund, ensures that every Labone student will now have a safe and conducive place to learn, marking a major relief for students, parents, and teachers. This intervention is part of the government's wider commitment to closing infrastructure gaps across second-cycle institutions nationwide.

Prez Mahama directs all Schools to Buy Local!

In a major economic and agricultural policy shift, the government has announced a sweeping directive mandating all educational institutions, from basic schools to senior high schools, to exclusively source key food items locally.
Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson, speaking during the 2026 Budget presentation, revealed the order came directly from President John Dramani Mahama.
"All schools... are now mandated to purchase only locally produced rice, maize, chicken, and eggs," Dr. Forson stated.
