Suhum Today: Fairtrade Africa Network rolls out a farmer-led Cocoa rehabilitation model to boost yields and curb deforestation in Suhum.

A new farmer-led cocoa rehabilitation model has been rolled out in Suhum. The intervention is backed by the Fairtrade Africa Network and aims to rehabilitate 200 hectares of aging and poorly managed cocoa farms in the municipality by 2027 to boost crop yields and curb deforestation.

The intervention seeks to rehabilitate 200 hectares of ageing and poorly managed Cocoa farms in Suhum, Offinso, Goaso and Kukuo by 2027, while promoting a substainable production practices and preventing the expansion of Cocoa cultivation into forest area.

The programme comes at a time when Ghana's Cocoa sector is facing declining productivity due to ageing farms, diseases, climate related challenges and illegal mining populary known as Galamsey.

Fairtrade Africa Network that represents and supports over 1.4 million farmers and workers across 28 countries. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, it is 50% owned by the producers themselves, ensuring farmers have direct control over their livelihoods and premiums.

Suhum Today: Armed Robbers robbed a popular food joint named PERFUME RICE with sum of money during a power outage in Suhum.

Armed Robbers has robbed Sister Ayokor a.k.a Perfume rice with sum of money with a Motor bike in Suhum during a power outage (Dumsor) at 12am.

The food joint is popularly located in Suhum opposite Debesco(Community centre area).

The Armed Robbers were seen brandishing guns, escaped with a substantial sum of money during yesterday's power outage. The police promptly responded to an Eyewitness's call but before they could arrive at the scene, the robbers had fled with a Motorbike.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing by Suhum
Police Command.

Suhum Today: MPs don't build Schools,Roads; Suhum Ayekotse chiefs forwarn Constituents to stop pressuring Hon Frank Asiedu Bekoe.

The Suhum Ayekotse chiefs led by Barima Dr. Ayekotse has paid a Courtesy call on Suhum MP in Parliament.

The Ayekotse chief Barima Dr.Ayekotse said it is time for Ghanaians especially Suhumman to stop pressuring MPs to construct roads, school, pipe-born water,etc adding that the MPs have no right to perform such responsibilities in their constituencies.

He added that, all developmental projects are channeled to the District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assembly to execute such infrastructure projects but not the MPs.

According to him, If any parliamentary candidates or Aspirants promised to construct a road,school, etc during a campaign trail people should know that is not the work of the MPs but District/Municipal/ Metropolitan Assembly.

He again stated that MPs are in Parliament to make laws but not to provide infrastructure projects and also calls for a proper education on constituents to know the roles of their MPs.

Suhum Today: Tears have poured in as a popular Suhum guy named Addo Naphtalin has been reported dead after a fatal motor accident in Ali- Suhum Municipality.

A tragic accident reportedly occurred during the early hours of Saturday, May 30th, 2026 in Suhum.

An eyewitness report says, the 31 year old Addo Naphtalin went to a colleague's funeral at Gojiase in Suhum on Saturday May 30th, 2026.

On the way to the cemetery to bury the deceased colleague lady, the fatal accident occurred as Addo Naphtalin performed daring stunts popularly known as "Adaga" on the Suhum Ali road and maneuvers on the road to honor a colleague lady who had previously died at Gojiase but unfortunately he also died in a motor Accident.

The daring stunts failed his hands at Ali road and died.(Addo Naphtalin).

Reports indicated that the impact was so severe, leading to the instant death of Addo Naphtalin.

Addo Naphtalin (deceased) body has been deposited in the Morgue at Suhum Government hospital.

The unexpected passing of Addo Naphtalin has brought sadness to the heart of many residents in Suhum.

The Suhum Sanaahema, Nana Hemaa Amaasi can't control her tears as her son Addo Naphtalin dies through a motor accident at Ali in Suhum.

Suhum Today: Give Suhum MP Hon Frank Asiedu Bekoe the same pressure you gave Opare Ansah and Oboafo Kwadjo Asante so he can deliver more on his promises- Odehye fires

The founder of the Suhum Youth Activist Network and Vice President of Suhum Bloggers Association says it is time for Suhumman to give Protozoa pressure to work like the same they gave Hon Oboafo and Hon Opare Ansah.

He reiterated that, leadership is not just a title but it requires hard work to solve problems, empower youth skills and cultivate a positive environment where everyone can thrive.

He added that, With pressures from above and a leader of leaders has a lot to juggle. They need to grasp the bigger picture, understand how their role impacts the entire Suhum Constituency, fit in with other constituents to
glue to enable future change and create sustainable growth and development in the Suhum Constituency. The youth in Suhum are the grinding machines for development in the near future and therefore they must be bold to share their views on national issues and concerns.

It's time for Suhumman to hold their leaders accountable to work irrespective of any political affiliations. There's a major shake up of youth unemployment, poor roads network , drug abuse, lack of portable drinking water in some deprived communities, teenage pregnancy, Sanitation, indiscipline, stalled Anglican Astro turf project and other social- vice ongoing in the Suhum Constituency

If leaders in Suhum Constituency neglect their development, they inadvertently create an environment that not only fails to motivate other youth to take action but also discourages others from prioritising their personal growth, to the detriment of both themselves and their status.

Suhum Today: Nestle Ghana and ECOM inaugurates a newly Six-Unit Classroom block in Adarkwa -Suhum.

Nestlé Ghana and ECOM Ghana have inaugurated a newly built six-unit classroom block to Adarkwa Methodist Primary School in the Eastern Region. The project is part of ongoing efforts to improve education in cocoa-growing communities across Ghana.

Nestlé Ghana Managing Director Salome Azevedo said the initiative was meant to inspire hope and create greater opportunities for children in the community. “I am delighted to be here today for this brief ceremony to hand over a six-unit classroom block with offices, storeroom, and toilet facilities to the Adarkwa Methodist Primary School, an initiative that will inspire new hope and create greater opportunities for the children of this community,” she stated.

She emphasized that safe, comfortable classrooms are critical for shaping young minds and nurturing dreams. “In a good classroom, students feel comfortable, respected, and ready to learn. It is a place where young minds are shaped, confidence is built, and dreams are nurtured,” she added.

The Managing Director of Nestle Ghana, Salome Azevedo has reaffirmed the Company's commitment to supporting Education and Community development with the inauguration of new six- unit classroom blocks for Schools in Cocoa growing Communities in Adarkwa-Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region.

She reiterated the need for students to study hard, respect their teachers and believe in themselves, describing the new facility as a symbol of hope and opportunity.

Suhum Today: Suhum Garment Factory to be Revamped by Government - Margaret Ansei Magoo CEO, Ghana Enterprises Agency.

The Suhum Garment Factory is a historic local industrial asset in Suhum, Eastern Region, originally established decades ago. Though it suffered from long periods of abandonment.

Many Civil Society Organizations have called for revamping the facility for many decades in the Suhum Municipality.

The government is therefore committed to revamping the facility by strengthening Suhum's industrial sector and trade for substainable development and Job creation.

The facility is also going to serve as a youth skill training center for dressmaking etc.

Suhum Today: WASSCE: Suhum Presby SHS Graduate Bags 8 As, Seeks Support To Attend University.

Sharon Amoako, an intelligent young lady who excelled in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), has appealed for financial assistance if her dream of pursuing university education is to come to fruition.

She explained that her desire is to study Computer Science at the university and would be delighted to receive the needed financial support to achieve her dreams.
