Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom MCE for Gomoa East Municipal Inspires BECE Candidates with Faith, Encouragement, and Symbolic Pens
In a passionate and spiritually charged address to final-year junior high school students, the newly elected Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Gomoa East, Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom, urged candidates to strive relentlessly for academic excellence, pledging both symbolic and practical support as they prepare for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Addressing the candidates with a blend of motherly care, spiritual fervor, and motivational energy, Hon. Ackom emphasized that only 5% of effort remains between them and academic success, having already covered 95% of the journey through prior learning and dedication.
โYou must push with everything within you from now until the final paper. From Form One to Form Three, youโve come too far to falter now,โ she declared.
She particularly challenged candidates in the "six to ten" grade bracket, stating that if even two tenths of them excel, she would take full responsibility for their welfare, assuring them of complete support with accommodations, provisions, and related logistics.
โI donโt want any child to go through this crucial phase of their academic journey lacking essentials like mattresses or food items. Your focus should be solely on the exam,โ she emphasized.
The MCE, who is the first-ever female to hold this position in the municipality, urged the students not to tarnish the reputation of their teachers, headmasters, or her leadership. She expressed a firm desire to see the academic performance of Gomoa East rise from mediocrity to excellence in the 2025 academic year.
โAs the first female MCE, I want this summer to be a turning point. Let the results reflect a transformation from a โAโ level to an โBโ grade standard. I know you will deliver, do I have your promise?โ she asked, to which the students responded affirmatively.
In a symbolic gesture of unity, divine favor, and confidence, Hon. Ackom announced that she would personally provide pens for all candidates on the Wednesday before the exam week.
โNo one is to use their own pen. This pen is not just stationery, it is an anointed tool, blessed in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. With this pen, your destiny will be written,โ she proclaimed.
She further advised against dishonest practices, warning students not to insert any notes or cheats in their examination materials. Her focus, she stressed, was on integrity, diligence, and divine intervention.
Acknowledging the anxiety that often accompanies high stakes examinations, especially among female students who may face biological or emotional stress, the MCE urged teachers to be fully present at the examination centers to provide moral and emotional support.
โTeachers must make themselves available during the examination period to ease the fears of the students. Your presence alone will be reassuring,โ she noted.
Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom concluded her address with renewed assurance and maternal encouragement, stating confidently: โHave hope. Have faith. What you have learnt will manifest. The Holy Spirit will guide your hand.โ
