5 years ago I was a facilitator helping my brother Prosper Quaijah tagged in post with all the necessary relevant digital skills to be employable. We reconnected again last Friday where my brother is a Municipal Director for the Centre for National Culture in the Sunyani West District. Proud moments. Great to be in the Bono Region again.

Why has decentralization in Digital Policy formation and implementation not worked in Ghana effectively?
A friend highlighted these few and would like to get your views on it.
1. District and regional authorities lack the technical expertise and resources needed to formulate and implement policies
2. Fragmented policies across regions (but do regions in Ghana has their own digital policies?)
3. Resistance to change and the inertia of existing centralized systems slowing down adoption of decentralized digital policies

Is this the case why everything is -based and how do we improve

Believe it or not, The West Africa Digital Ecosystem is the mother of innovations, impactful startups and leading the last-mile solutions-driven economy. In as much as West Africa leads in all forms of theories it lacks certain key components, policies etc that make the East African ecosystem thrive.

Last year, my team at Digital Foundation embarked on a journey of building an index for West Africa's Digital space. We had all kinds of challenges especially on funding this index yet we prevailed.

This year, we are calling on all individual and research institutions to funding organizations that are interested to be part of our network to help build a great that would help accelerate the creation of employment, advise ecosystem players, help regulate and direct towards a one digital agenda across the West African sub-region. We are open. Represent Digital Foundation as the research partner in your country (West Africa) to help build the 2023 edition of the .
