President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Japan to attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). He traveled aboard Emirates flight EK 318. During his visit, President Mahama aims to engage with Japanese authorities to secure financing for the Volivo Bridge project, a key component of Ghana's Eastern Corridor road project under his "$10 billion Big Push" infrastructure initiative.

The Volivo Bridge project is expected to significantly improve transportation and trade along the Eastern Corridor, linking southern and northern Ghana more efficiently. Japan has reaffirmed its commitment to financing the project, with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) dispatching a technical team to assess funding requirements.
