A REFLECTION ON LEADERSHIP, LAW AND WESTERN TOGOLAND
Dear Eric Edem Agbana
I hope you have a moment from your tight schedule to read these few words of mine.
I read your Midnight Musings a few hours ago, where you drew attention to the situation of Hon. Sosu and wished him a speedy recovery.
You are very right in what you said, and I wish to add that I was particularly worried seeing what Mr. Sosu went through. I can only pray that the Lord of the universe will heed our silent prayers and visit him with His mighty hands, bringing him back to us.
Sosu represents a class of young people whose talents and potential serve as a beacon to some of us watching from afar. The passion he has demonstrated for the law, particularly in matters affecting fundamental human rights, is rare.
In the recent development involving the EOCO officer and the Hon. MP for Manhya South, Mr. Sosu did not approach the matter through the lens of party colours. His explanation provided an opportunity for non-partisan education on the issues, something that is increasingly difficult to find in an environment where political fanaticism can sometimes take precedence over principle.
His position on fundamental rights when his party was in opposition and now that his party is in power has, from my observation, remained solid.
To watch him go through such a situation while still on duty serving the people worries me personally. But as human beings, we do not have complete control over the contract we have signed with nature. Whenever and wherever we find ourselves at its mercy, all we can do is pray for a second chance.
