Ghanaians Want Results, Not Presidential Speculation - Vice President

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on officials of the National Democratic Congress to shift focus from internal succession debates to delivering on the mandate given by Ghanaians.

Speaking to NDC officials on Friday, 7th August 2026, the Vice President said Ghanaians did not vote for the government to be deciding halfway through the term who should contest for the presidency after President John Dramani Mahama.

According to her, the priority of the administration should be the betterment of the country and meeting the expectations of citizens who entrusted the NDC with power.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that discussions about who leads the party after President Mahama can come later, and that for now the focus must be on governance, service delivery, and improving the lives of Ghanaians.

Her comments come amid growing conversations within political circles about the NDC's flagbearer race for the 2028 elections.

Government cannot recruit _every_ trained and qualified teacher.
According to Education Minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, that is “practically impossible.”

What do you think about this statement? Should government find alternative ways to employ trained teachers, or is this the reality we have to accept?

Let’s discuss in the comments 👇

Mahama Urges Ghanaians to Embrace Honesty, Hard Work and Patriotism

President John Mahama has called on Ghanaians to return to values of honesty, hard work and unity. Speaking at Ringway Gospel Centre on Sunday, Aug 2, he said Ghana’s future depends on all of us.

He warned against hopelessness and criticized those who say Ghana would be better under colonial rule, calling it an insult to our founding fathers like Nkrumah.

“We must work hard, speak the truth, reject corruption and serve the common good,” he stated.
