Court Update.

Cross-examination has ended for the 3rd Prosecution Witness, Madam Mildred Donkor, in Republic v Kwabena Adu Boahene & 2 Ors (Cybersecurity software case).

Counsel for the accused, Samuel Atta Akyea Esq. ended his questioning on a Biblical note by quoting Exodus 20:16 and reading it text-“Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”

To this, the Witness responded on a proverbial note:

“My Lord, a frog that is coming out of the water to tell you that the crocodile is dead and the dog that is walking on the surface of the earth, who will you believe. I said the truth and I said what I know.”

Madam Mildred Donkor who was the Banker of the accused persons and a Director of their companies was initially charged with the accused persons but was later withdrawn and made a prosecution witness when she offered to testify for the state.

Her evidence in summary consisted of the details of the transactions and transfers of various amounts involving the GHc49.1 million alleged to have been stolen by the accused persons.

The trial has been adjourned to Thursday, June 18 at 10:30 in the forenoon for the 4th Prosecution Witness, the Investigator in the Case, to Mount the Witness box to begin giving his evidence.

"The President of Tanzania, SAMIA SULUHU HASSAN, gave South Africans 48 hours to leave her country and ordered the closure of borders between Tanzania and South Africa. No products will be exported from Tanzania to South Africa.
President SAMIA SULUHU HASSAN announced drastic measures against South Africa, including a 48-hour ultimatum for South African citizens to leave Tanzanian territory. The decision comes in response to ongoing reports of xenophobic acts against Africans, especially migrants, on South African soil.
According to the Tanzanian head of state, all borders with South Africa have been closed, and the supply of Tanzanian products to that country has been suspended with immediate effect. The measure represents a significant escalation in diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
In a firm speech, SAMIA SULUHU HASSAN strongly criticized the South African government, stating that the country has “forgotten the support it received during the struggle for independence.” The president also highlighted that, historically, African countries, including Tanzania, contributed to ending the Apartheid regime by hosting exiles and supporting liberation movements"
Me: I might not like some of her ways of doing things but I hope this is real as reported by Africa Eye.

It has been announced that Yaw Omane Boamah, son of former Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, will represent Ghana at the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). He was selected as one of six national finalists following a rigorous competition involving over 600 students from more than 100 schools nationwide. Yaw will be accompanied by Qi Wang of Ghana International School, who secured the second position overall in the selection process.

Both students have qualified to represent Ghana at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) scheduled for 2026. The IMO is a renowned annual competition where participating countries field six-member teams. Contestants participate in two examination papers over two days, with each paper lasting 4.5 hours and comprising three problems, making a total of six questions with a maximum score of 42 points.

The competition focuses exclusively on advanced secondary-level mathematics and does not permit the use of calculators. Individual scores determine medal recipients, with approximately half of participants receiving gold, silver, or bronze medals.

BIG PUSH – ENHANCED RAPID RESPONSE REBUTTALS

1. “There is a procurement scandal”
• Completely false. Nothing unlawful was done.
• All processes complied with the Public Procurement Act.
• Full transparency: contract details are publicly available.

2. “Everything is sole-sourced”
• Deliberate distortion.
• Only 34% of contracts are sole-sourced.
• Over 400 contracts awarded competitively.
• 23 of the so-called ‘Big Push’ projects were actually inherited—originally sole-sourced under the previous administration and abandoned.
• Examples include:
• Suame Interchange
• Ofankor–Nsawam
• Adenta–Dodowa
• These were novated and revived under Big Push to give them new life and ensure completion.

3. “The numbers don’t add up (51 contracts claim)”
• Misleading aggregation.
• The “51” refers largely to projects broken into multiple lots, not new contracts.
• This is a standard efficiency strategy, not duplication.
• Examples:
• Wenchi–Wa split into multiple lots
• Atimpoku–Aflao split into 8 lots
• Purpose:
• Bring in more contractors
• Accelerate delivery timelines
• Improve competition and ex*****on speed

4. “Costs are inflated”
• Technically flawed claim.
• Cost-per-kilometre analysis is misleading without scope context.
• Projects vary by:
• Engineering complexity
• Interchanges and structures
• Urban vs rural conditions
• All projects underwent thorough Value for Money (VfM) analysis before approval.

5. “Government is rushing contracts”
• Incorrect framing.
• Government is delivering with urgency, not recklessness.
• Delay would mean:
• Escalating costs
• Continued economic hardship
• The objective is timely delivery to Ghanaians.

6. “There is no value for money”
• False.
• Government has ensured:
• Detailed VfM assessments on all projects
• Competitive elements even within multi-lot contracts
• Strict cost control and monitoring systems
• Payments are tied strictly to work done.

7. “Projects are being duplicated or inflated”
• Not true.
• Breaking projects into lots enhances competitiveness, not duplication.
• It allows:
• More local contractor participation
• Faster completion timelines
• This is a deliberate efficiency and capacity-building strategy.

8. “Government started everything from scratch”
• Incorrect.
• A significant number of projects were:
• Inherited
• Stalled or abandoned
• Big Push is reviving and completing these projects, not reinventing them.

9. “There is no oversight”
• False.
• The programme is under:
• Continuous parliamentary scrutiny
• Frequent questioning and reporting
• Independent professional validation
• This is one of the most scrutinised programmes in government.

E&P has been working as the sole mining contractor in Damang since 2017, having previously been engaged in various capacities in Damang since 2002.

When the leaseholder, GOLD FIELDS, decided to abandon the mine in 2023 and notified E&P to demobilize, E&P showed interest to acquire the mine.

In line with the provisions of the Minerals and Mining Act, E&P applied for No Objection in March 2024 and obtained same in March 2024. After extensive consultations, the approval was granted by government through then Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor on the 12th of March 2024. Attached is the NO OBJECTION LETTER granted in March 2024.

```Resetting Ghana Begins in Beijing: A Quiet Diplomatic Signal of a 24-Hour Economic Future```
*In the solemn halls of the Chinese Presidency, far from the noise of political rallies and public commentary, Ambassador Kojo Bonsu, Ghana’s envoy to the People’s Republic of China, performed a ceremonial act with strategic consequences—presenting his Letters of Credence to President Xi Jinping.*
But this was not merely a diplomatic formality. It was a quiet signal—one that suggests Ghana may be preparing to reset its economic posture, its production philosophy, and its global partnerships.
As Ghana contemplates a second era under President John Dramani Mahama, the idea of a 24-Hour Economy has emerged not as a slogan, but as a structural ambition: continuous production, uninterrupted logistics, export-driven industrialisation, and jobs that do not sleep. Such an economy cannot be built solely on speeches. It must be engineered—deliberately, globally, and strategically.
*Behind closed doors, Ambassador Bonsu’s engagement with President Xi marked the first diplomatic bridge in that engineering process. China’s development story—rooted in manufacturing depth, infrastructure speed, industrial parks, special economic zones, and night-time economies—offers lessons Ghana cannot afford to ignore.*
_This meeting signals an intention to learn, adapt, and localise those lessons within Ghana’s own sociocultural and economic realities._
*Resetting Ghana, therefore, is not confined to domestic reforms. It extends to economic diplomacy—to how Ghana positions itself in Beijing, how it negotiates technology transfer, how it secures industrial partnerships, and how it aligns foreign relationships with national productivity goals.*
This moment in Beijing reminds us of a central truth: nations that succeed do not merely trade; they strategise. They not only attend ceremonies; they prepare futures.
_If Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy is to transition from vision to viability, it will require more such quiet meetings, fewer loud promises, and a foreign policy that understands one thing clearly—development is a deliberate process._
*Nations are reset not by rhetoric, but by the quiet discipline of strategic choices.*
This is the appointment that begins the "Game Changing" era for H. E. John Dramani Mahama.
