IPOB Is Not A Terrorist Organization, The Proscription Remains Illegal

13th August 2026

On Monday we read the Press Release by the Head Of The Directorate Of State (DOS) with great Joy when he re emphasized that members should not be intimidated by the unlawful proscription of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).
He told IPOB members home and abroad that the proscription of IPOB by Nigeria Government remains illegal and Unlawful. He advised the family not to allow the evil narrative of Nigeria, and her agents to weaken the Truth.
In his words;

"The ex parte order proscribing IPOB remains illegal. Our Appeal before the supreme court of Nigeria is pending. Nigeria Law is clear: the right of free association cannot be taken away without proper notice. We must continue to circulate the original Gazette so that Biafrans and the world can see for themselves that membership of IPOB was never legally Proscribed"

Recall that the family of IPOB woke up on 15th of September 2017 to read the evil gazette proscribing IPOB and since that date, our Lawyers have not rested from challenging it in Court each time a member is charged for belonging to a terrorist organization.

The Federal government of Nigeria through the Attorney General at Abuja Federal High Court by Justice Abdul Kafarati announced that the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) was proscribed and tagged a Terrorist organization.

In the first place, the proscription lacks fair hearing because IPOB was not served or invited to court before the ex-parte order. Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution guarantees right to fair hearing.
Our lawyers have argued that they can’t ban an organization without hearing them first.

The process of the proscription was also wrong because under the Terrorism Prevention Act, proscription should follow due process including investigation, evidences, and listing.

Yet again, the proscription Contradicts constitutional rights. In Section 40 of the Nigeria Constitution, it guarantees freedom of association and peaceful assembly.
IPOB is simply agitating for self-determination, which is not illegal under any international law, Regional or National.

It is important to inform you that the Federal government is avoiding the Appeal at her Courts

In conclusion, members must remain peaceful and of good conduct as they go about their right to peaceful assembly and association in their quest for Freedom.
It is their constitutional right and nobody can take it away from them.

Ipob is being registered in Israel officially and legally on June 2019 at our justice ministry. If it was a terror organization no one would even looked at us or let us registered at our government office Officials!!! Official talking, meeting, deliberation talks concerning Biafra and our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are being active at the Israeli parliament since October 2025. You all could see the historical speech of our welfare minister, asking the Israeli government to make the Biafra issue as the Israeli agenda and also asking to talk about Biafra on every platform andvin every world forum. Ipob is being officially and legally represented at the Israeli parliament since February 2026. The deputy speaker of the Israeli parliament officially invited a deligation of Biafran representatives to the Israeli parliament and you all saw the warm welcome on media. There is no country in the world that ipob is or was proscribed as a terrorist group! Only the zoo government proscribed it and no country accepted it. Not even the UN because they all know that ipob is a peaceful freedom movement!!!

The Elders Advisory Council of IPOB Moves Into U.S Department With Demands

13th August, 2026

In this Week's Press Release, IPOB worldwide received update from the Head of Directorate Of State Mazi Chris Nwaogu, about the IPOB Elders Advisory Council. We were told that they held a very useful meeting with the United States Department.
In his words, I quote;

"The IPOB Elders Advisory Council working with our Washingtong DC lobbyists, held a meeting with the United States Department. The discussion focused on the ongoing Jihadist slaughter against Judeo-Christians in parts of Biafra land, a campaign that Nigeria Media continues to under report, The Meeting was fruitful. Diplomatic etiquette prevents us from revealing the full details of the meeting, but I want every Biafran to be reassured: We are not relenting. The work continues quietly and steadily".
End of quote.

The Elders Advisory Council was born out of necessity to play a key role not just as the highest Advisory/Oversight body within the IPOB. It is described as the"conscience and guide" of the movement.

Some of you may be asking who are these respectable Elders and what is their role in IPOB?

The Council is made up of respected Igbo Elders, Traditional Rulers, Retired Professionals, Clergy, and Community Leaders who align with IPOB’s goal. They are non-political and non-partisan Elders.

Asides from being the highest Advisory Council, they are also to be in charge of Conflict Resolution & Discipline in the family. They mediate internal disputes within IPOB chapters worldwide.

They are the Custodians of IPOB Ideology & Principles.
Their job is to ensure IPOB sticks to its founding principles: non-violence, Self-determination for Biafra through referendum, and discipline. They guard against infiltration and deviation from the mission of the organization.

It may interest you to also know that this Elders Advisory Council give Guidance on Political & Diplomatic Matters. They provide counsel on how IPOB engages with Government's, International bodies, other Biafran groups, and Traditional institutions.
Don't forget, because they are our "Elders," their endorsement gives weight to IPOB’s decisions. They help IPOB present itself as a structured movement with traditional Igbo leadership values, not just a youth group. They add to Legitimacy & Moral Authority.

I stand in support of Simon Ekpa and believe he should be released now. To me, he is a good man whose voice and convictions deserve to be heard through peaceful and lawful means.

I call on the relevant authorities to respect his fundamental rights and ensure that justice and due process prevail. If there are allegations against him, let them be addressed fairly and transparently before the law.

Release Simon Ekpa now. Let justice speak, let peace prevail, and let every person have the right to a fair hearing.

UPDATE: For many young Igbo males, being labeled an IPOB member is literally a “kiss of death”. This photo bears young MICHAEL ONYEDIKACHI AHIZE, who was reportedly arrested in September 2022 by a combined team of DSS and the Army, and detained since then, without being charged or brought to Court.

In the words of the Good Samaritan who brought this to my attention: “When Ahize was arrested, he was first taken to the DSS (Owerri) for ‘questioning’, then moved to Tiger Base (Owerri), and later transferred to Imo State Police Command. Later, he was taken back to the DSS for further questioning at some point before being returned to the Imo State Police Command, which remains his last known location.”

Let me add this: Oftentimes, young Igbo males are arrested on flimsy grounds or set-up, and then quickly labeled IPOB to justify indefinite detention. which sometimes escalate to torture and extrajudicial killing.

It just has to stop. Ndigbo must band together and vigorously fight this persistent selective injustice. Every detainee deserves his day in Court. It’s a basic human right.

If you come across this post, please share it widely, in the hope that it will help in our efforts to , or accord him his day in Court. THANK YOU.

NNAMDI KANU AND THE BIAFRA STRUGGLE: THE CALL FOR JUSTICE CONTINUES

The Biafra question has not disappeared. It remains an unresolved political and historical issue that continues to generate strong emotions, debate and demands for justice across the South-East and among Biafrans in the diaspora.

At the centre of the current struggle is Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, whose conviction and continued imprisonment remain a major concern for his supporters.

As of 2026, Kanu's legal battle is still ongoing. His legal team filed a Notice and Grounds of Appeal in February 2026 challenging his conviction, and his counsel has stated that the appeal is progressing through the established legal process.

There have also been renewed international calls concerning his case. In July 2026, U.S. Congressman John James called for Kanu either to receive a fresh trial consistent with constitutional safeguards or to be released immediately and unconditionally.

For us at Nkwuda Biafra, the message is clear:

Justice must not be selective.

We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to seriously reconsider the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and pursue a peaceful political solution to the grievances that continue to fuel the Biafra question.

We believe that the way forward should be through dialogue, justice, constitutional rights, peace and respect for human dignity—not through hatred, violence or the destruction of innocent lives and communities.

The people deserve to be heard.

The grievances of the South-East deserve meaningful attention.

And the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu deserves a fair and transparent legal process.

Nnamdi Kanu must receive justice.
The Biafra question deserves genuine dialogue.
Peace must remain our strongest weapon.

✊🏿 FREE MAZI NNAMDI KANU.

ABỊA VOICES ECHO SUPPORT FOR MAZI NNAMDI KANU.

03/08/2026

A video currently trending online has captured a large crowd of people in Abia State singing in unison: "Nnamdi ka anyị ga-eso, ma ọ na-ejeje, ma ọ na-ana ana Nnamdi ka anyị ga-eso" ("We will follow Nnamdi, whether he is walking or standing still, we will follow Nnamdi").

The song has drawn significant attention on social media and has been widely shared among supporters.

Supporters have described the gathering as a demonstration of their continued loyalty to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, whom they regard as their illustrious son and the Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

They view the chanting as a public reaffirmation of their commitment to his leadership and the ideals they associate with him.

The video has generated widespread discussion, with many supporters interpreting it as a strong expression of solidarity from those present and a reflection of their determination to stand by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu despite ongoing challenges.

PRESS RELEASE: 21st July, 2026

RE: Kanu’s legal team condemns call for his extrajudicial killing, demands retraction and apology

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team hereby strongly condemns the statement made by one Mr. Chigozie Nnabugwu on News Central TV, in which he publicly urged the Government of Nigeria to kill our client for ‘normalcy to return to the Southeast.’

The video bearing this statement was published at 1:14PM on 19th July 2026 by News Central Television at its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, monitored at: , and it went viral from that source.

To be sure, this call for extrajudicial killing is reckless, irresponsible, and unlawful. And it constitutes a clear threat to life and risks inciting a breakdown of public order.

The call strains the boundaries set under Section 24(1) of the Cybercrimes Act, which criminalises the knowing or intentional transmission of messages via electronic means (including those amplified on broadcast platforms and social media) that pose a threat to life or are intended to cause a breakdown of law and order, which carries a fine of up to ₦7m or imprisonment of up to three years or both.

Additional liabilities will likely be triggered under the Criminal Code for incitement to violence and related offences.

Furthermore, by airing and platforming this inflammatory content without due regard for its potential to incite violence or threaten public peace, News Central TV may face regulatory sanctions for breach of broadcast codes on incitement and public order.

It may also attract accessory liability or contributory exposure under relevant laws. Broadcasters enabling hate speech and calls for extrajudicial killing risk severe regulatory sanctions and other countervailing measures.

And demanding an extrajudicial ex*****on while legal proceedings remain before the court directly subverts the judicial process and potentially constitutes actionable contempt of court.

We are actively reviewing all available legal options, including formal complaints to the appropriate authorities.

In the interim, we hereby demand that Mr. Chigozie Nnabugwu issue an immediate public retraction of his statement, and that News Central TV tender an unqualified televised apology for airing such dangerous content.

Finally, this Press Release serves as a pre-action notice of all legal actions that will ensue if Mr. Nnabugwu and News Central TV fail to take immediate remedial measures.

Signed:

Aloy Ejimakor, Esq.
Special Counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
