Kuwait's air defense systems were activated in the early hours of Thursday, May 28, after the country's military announced it was confronting hostile missile and drone attacks. Air raid sirens sounded across Kuwait at 5:22 a.m. local time — the first such alert heard in the country in a significant period.

The Kuwaiti military stated that any explosion sounds heard by residents were the result of air defense systems intercepting incoming threats, urging the public to follow all security and safety instructions. The attacks were not officially attributed to a specific party.

The development follows fresh US strikes targeting military sites near Bandar Abbas overnight, as well as Iran firing on vessels attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz earlier the same morning.
