🚨 BAGBIN: “THE PASSAGE OF THE LGBTQ BILL SURPRISED ME!” 😳

What really happened in Parliament last Friday? 🤔

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, says he did not expect the LGBTQ Bill to be passed that day.

🗣️ According to Bagbin, he left instructions for MPs to begin considering the bill, not complete and pass it.

“When it was passed on Friday, it was a real surprise to me.”

The Speaker said he believed MPs would not finish the process because many lawmakers were preparing to travel to their constituencies for the weekend.

But while he was away attending other duties, Parliament went ahead and passed the bill.

😮 Bagbin says he later heard the news and watched the developments on TV before calling Parliamentary leaders to his office for explanations.

❓So who pushed the bill through?
❓Why was it passed sooner than expected?
❓Were there last-minute changes that some MPs did not anticipate?

The debate is getting hotter by the day! 🔥

👇 Do you believe the Speaker should have been present when such an important bill was passed?

YES or NO?

“🚨 “Who is the NDC trying to deceive?” — Afenyo-Markin fires back in Parliament

The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, accused the NDC of political double standards over the LGBTQ+ Bill.

🗣️ “Who is the NDC trying to deceive? Traditional leaders, religious leaders, civil society, or the Ghanaian people?”

He challenged Ghanaians to compare the bill that was previously presented for former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sign with the version now being discussed under President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the current bill does not address the concerns that were originally raised and is “empty” and “nugatory.”
