HON. SARAH DUGBAKIE POBEE ENGAGES GREATER ACCRA ASSOCIATION OF ASSEMBLY MEMBERS (GAAM)
As part of her ongoing engagement with key grassroots stakeholders within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, former Assembly Member and former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ada East Municipal Assembly, held a strategic meeting with the leadership of the Greater Accra Association of Assembly Members (GAAM).
The engagement provided an opportunity for Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee to interact directly with current and former Assembly Members, listen to their concerns, and share her perspectives on strengthening the party’s grassroots structures ahead of future electoral contests.
Drawing from her extensive experience in local governance and community leadership, Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee emphasized that sustainable electoral success begins at the grassroots level. She noted that Assembly Members remain the closest link between government, political leadership, and the ordinary citizen, making them indispensable partners in the rebuilding and growth of the party.
Recognizing the Value of GAAM
Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee commended the Greater Accra Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) for its continued commitment to organizing and mobilizing Assembly Members across the region.
She acknowledged the historic role played by the association following the 2015 District Level Elections, where a significant number of Assembly Members sympathetic to the NPP emerged victorious and contributed immensely to the party’s successful grassroots mobilization efforts leading into the 2016 General Elections.
According to her, the experience of 2016 demonstrated the direct relationship between strong local-level political organization and electoral success at both the parliamentary and presidential levels.
She further observed that the decline in pro-NPP Assembly Members in subsequent District Level Elections has highlighted the urgent need for renewed grassroots engagement, strategic planning, and stronger collaboration among party stakeholders.
Empowering the Grassroots for Future Success
During the meeting, Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee stressed that the future strength of the NPP in Greater Accra will depend largely on its ability to reconnect with communities, empower local leaders, and build effective grassroots networks.
She praised GAAM’s ongoing efforts to reorganize and unite current and former Assembly Members across the 34 constituencies in the region and described the initiative as a timely intervention that will strengthen the party’s grassroots machinery.
According to her, Assembly Members possess invaluable knowledge of their electoral areas and communities and must therefore be given a more active role in political organization, voter mobilization, and community engagement.
She encouraged members of the association to continue serving as ambassadors of development, unity, and progress within their respective communities.
Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee’s Message
Addressing the executives and members present, Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee emphasized the importance of unity, inclusiveness, and effective grassroots participation in the party’s rebuilding efforts.
She noted that every successful political movement is built on strong local structures and committed grassroots leadership.
Drawing from her experiences as both an Assembly Member and former Municipal Chief Executive, she highlighted the need for the party to invest more resources and attention in grassroots development, capacity building, and community engagement.
She further called for stronger collaboration between party executives, Assembly Members, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives, and community leaders to ensure that the NPP remains connected to the needs and aspirations of the people.
According to her, the road to future electoral victories will require dedication, strategic organization, and a collective commitment to strengthening the party from the ground up.
Looking Ahead
The meeting concluded with fruitful discussions on strategies for enhancing grassroots participation, improving local political organization, and positioning the party for future success.
Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee expressed her appreciation to the leadership and members of GAAM for their dedication and service to their communities and the party.
She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives that empower grassroots actors and strengthen the NPP’s presence across Greater Accra.
She urged all stakeholders to remain united, focused, and committed to the shared objective of building a stronger party capable of delivering victory in future elections.
“Strong grassroots structures create strong communities, and strong communities build winning political movements. Together, let us reconnect with our people, strengthen our foundations, and position our party for future success.”
