As predicted, the United States has officially entered into conflict with Iran, launching direct strikes on its territory. This event completely changes the architecture of the current crisis. If up to this point, Israel was the main perpetrator, and the United States occupied the position of strategic cover, now the war is becoming an American-Iranian war in the literal sense.

What is changing?

Israel is retreating into the shadows, the US is taking on the front of the main pressure - both political and military. The region is no longer unipolar: now Yemen (the Houthis), Shiite formations in Iraq and Syria ( this is less likely, but still possible), as well as proxies in Lebanon and Afghanistan may enter the game. The US strike is the point of legitimisation of an Iranian retaliatory strike on American facilities, including CENTCOM base assets in Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain.

What are Iran's trump cards? Tehran has several clear and well-established scenarios:

A retaliatory salvo at American bases. The targets could be:
โ€“ US air bases in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Yemeni forces have already announced that they will attack US ships in the Red Sea. Now they have a formal pretext. All logistics through Suez are at risk. The most severe scenario is blocking the Strait of Hormuz. Closing it even for 72 hours will lead to an increase in oil prices and potential disruptions in energy supplies to Europe and Asia and the likelihood of the US having to launch a naval operation to lift the blockade. From a regional mess, everything is gradually growing into a global crisis.

At the same time, there are no first and independent assessments of the strike yet, but this is largely unimportant, since the US has intervened in a direct military conflict. Everyone is frozen in anticipation of an Iranian response.
