🇬🇭 A HEROIC TEACHER’S ULTIMATE SACRIFICE 🇬🇭
A National Call for Justice and Honor
To: Hon. Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and all distinguished stakeholders in Ghana’s educational and political landscape.
With heavy hearts, we announce the tragic and painful death of one of Ghana’s finest educators Mr. Bukari Yahaya, a teacher whose bravery and selflessness now define the true meaning of heroism.
During a brutal attack on the Garu NHIA office, Mr. Yahaya placed his pupils’ safety above his own life. As chaos erupted, he courageously shielded the students and led them to safety. In that selfless act a teacher’s final lesson in courage and love he was fatally shot.
Ghana has lost not only a teacher but a husband, father, mentor, union leader, and the sole breadwinner of his family. His wife, unemployed and now widowed, faces an uncertain future with their children the youngest barely two years old.
Had Mr. Yahaya chosen self-preservation, over a thousand students of Garu D/A might have fallen victim to the gunmen. But, grounded in his faith and guided by duty, he made the ultimate sacrifice for the many he served, not the few he loved at home.
We therefore call on Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and the entire government of Ghana, to:
1. Provide immediate financial support to the bereaved family.
2. Offer employment or livelihood support to the late teacher’s wife.
3. Strengthen security measures across schools and educational offices nationwide to prevent such tragedies.
Mr. Bukari Yahaya’s legacy reflects the 2025 World Teachers’ Day theme: “Elevating the Status of the Teacher for Quality Education.”
If we truly seek to elevate teachers, then we must honor those who die serving Ghana’s children.
Let this moment awaken our conscience as a nation to protect, respect, and reward those who shape our future through education.
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, your immediate intervention to honor this fallen hero and safeguard the welfare of Ghanaian teachers will not only bring comfort to his family but will reaffirm our national commitment to the dignity of teachers.
May his sacrifice never be forgotten.
May his memory inspire a safer and more appreciative Ghana.
YAHAYA THE HEROIC TEACHER BUKARI YAHAYA
Deserves Honor. Deserves Justice. Deserves a Place in Ghana’s Heart.

There should be no Grade A or Grade B schools; we spend equally on all teachers in every school – Mahama Ayariga.

For the whole academic year, you have 10 days "leave" as a classroom teacher. Try and rest for 2 days in this term leaving 8 days.

We will be going on a mid-term break next week.
Have your school considered organizing mid -term exams?

A whole school administration would put 4 teachers on duty and only 1 person would be seen working.
