"Black Tea Without Bread": Students at Zion College Start the Day Hungry

This morning at Zion College, students were served a cup of tea so diluted and dark it resembled black water—without even a slice of bread to go with it.

A photo circulating from the school shows a cup of the morning meal: raw tea with no nutritional support. For many of these students, this is not just breakfast—it’s the only real meal they may have to begin the school day.

The incident has sparked concern among staff and parents alike. “This is unacceptable. How can students focus on lessons and perform academically when they start the day hungry?” one staff member lamented.

The situation highlights a growing challenge in Zion College. Super for several weeks now is without any fish or meat, no protein. One chicken back is divided into five, each piece for one bowl.A bowl is meant for a table of 10. The students are calling on the PTA to come to their rescue.

FLAMES ENGULF ANLOGA MARKET
Story by Silas Aidam

21/ 01/2025

It was a typical Tuesday afternoon in Anloga, with the sun beating down on the bustling market. Vendors were busy arranging their wares, while customers haggled over prices at the northern side of the Anloga market.Suddenly, a loud cry pierced the air.

"Fire! Fire!" someone shouted.

Pandemonium erupted as people scrambled to escape the inferno. Flames were licking at the wooden stalls, fueled by goods like plastic wares, straw mats, as well as fabrics on display. A corn mill owned by Mad Gladys Ketormanya was not spared by the flames. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky, casting a pall of despair over the scene.

Madam Gifty Amuzu, a veteran trader, watched in horror as her stall went up in flames. "My livelihood! Everything I've worked for!" she wailed.

The fire department was quickly summoned they arrived in time, but then, the fire had spread, consuming entire rows of stalls.

As the firefighters battled the blaze, the community came together to support those affected. Neighbors tried to console those crying uncontrollably for their losses.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the market lay in ruins. The once-thriving hub of commerce was now a smouldering expanse of ashes and charred remains.

The people of Anloga vowed to rebuild, to rise from the ashes like the phoenix. But for now, they mourned the loss of their beloved market, a symbol of their community's resilience and spirit.Hogbe Radio is following this story keenly.
