Peace restored in Bawku Municipal Assembly as they celebrate the 69th independence day in five years.
The MCE for Bawku municipal Hon Isaac Azonaba appealed to the people of Bawku-Kusaug to put their differences aside and come together as one people, as "they Bawku Municipal are committed and making sure that student go to school without fear. Hope restored when traders open their shops in safety. Hope restored when farmer farmers cultivate their lands peacefully. Hope restored when community live together in mutual respect. Let us rise above our differences. Let us remember that before any agni, political or social identity, we are Ghanaians and we are one people. In my conclusion, as we celebrate the sixty nine years of independence, let us renew our commitment to the ideas of unity, peace and accountability, and service to humanity that our forefathers began with. Let us build prosperity together. Let us restore hope together. Let us protect Bawku together. Let us move Ghana forward together. May God bless Bawku municipal. May God bless our security services. May God bless our traditional authorities. May God bless our homeland, Ghana and make our nation great and strong".

BINDURI DISTRICT NADMO INAUGURATES 40-MEMBER COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER GROUP

The Binduri District Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has inaugurated a 40-member Community Volunteer Group to strengthen disaster preparedness and response efforts in the district.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Binduri in the Upper East Region, brought together regional,district officials, traditional leaders, assembly members, and World vision Ghana who witnessed the swearing-in of the volunteers.
World vision Ghana rep Mr, Samuel Abasiba assured NADMO of their support and will help train the volunteers and give them basic training in disaster prevention, early warning systems, first aid, and emergency response techniques.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the Regional director for NADMO Mr Christopher Beokena who is the Deputy Director administration, emphasized the importance of community involvement in disaster management. He noted that the formation of the volunteer group forms part of NADMO’s broader strategy to minimize the impact of natural and human-induced disasters, particularly flooding, bushfires, rainstorms, and other emergencies that frequently affect communities in the area.
According to him, the volunteers were carefully selected from various communities or electoral areas across the district. He expressed confidence that the team would serve as first responders in times of crisis, helping to reduce casualties and property damage. He assured the group that they will do all they can to motivate them to do their work diligently.

The District Chief Executive for Binduri Hon Martin Ariku Akudugu commended NADMO for the initiative, describing it as timely and crucial. He urged the volunteers to discharge their duties with dedication, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility to their communities. He further assured them of the Assembly’s support and collaboration.
Some traditional leaders who addressed the gathering pledged their support to the volunteers and encouraged residents to cooperate fully with the team to ensure effective disaster prevention and management.

The inauguration of the 40-member Community Volunteer Group marks a significant step toward enhancing grassroots participation in disaster risk reduction and building resilient communities in Binduri District.

*Binduri MP and DCE cut sod for 3 schools and 2 CHPS Compounds*

The Member of Parliament for the Binduri constituency, Hon. Lawyer Issifu Mahmud, in collaboration with the District Chief Executive of the Binduri District Assembly, Hon. Ariku Martin Akudugu, on Saturday, 27th December, 2025, cut sods for the construction of three (3) school bocks and two (2) CHPS compounds in five communities in the Binduri district.
The beneficiary communities are as follows:
1. Belempiisi: 3-unit classroom block with ancillary
2. Narango: CHPS
3. Tambiigu: CHPS
4. Sakpari: 3-unit classroom block with ancillary
5. Azum-Sapeliga: 3-unit classroom block with ancillary
Aside these, 10 boreholes (hand pump and mechanized) are to be constructed from this year's common fund. These boreholes will be drilled somewhere in March, 2026.
These projects will be funded by the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and are expected to be completed within six (6) months as funds are already available.
The MP entreated contractors to ensure they employ labour from the communities where these projects are to be constructed to create job opportunities to residents of those communities.
The MP used the opportunity to apologize to the people of Binduri for the trauma they had to go through as a result of the conflict. He appealed to all to find a place in their hearts to forgive one another and embrace peace for development.
Accompanying the DCE and the MP were district assembly staff, the Presiding Member for Binduri District Assembly, the district DRIP coordinator, some constituency executives, some branch executives, and party supporters.
Chiefs, Tendaanas, elders, and residents of the beneficiary communities showed up in their numbers for the sod-cutting ceremony.
