We welcome everybody to NAYOKO NAABA’S PALACE., especially media for honoring our invitation at short notice.
We the people of Nayoko in the Kusaug Traditional Area has taken note of a purported video on social media on 16th March, 2025, the recent happenings in Bawku by one Nurudeen Gumah, a Mamprusi in Bawku, the capital of the Kusaug Traditional Area. In the said video, he said the people of Nayoko are their relatives and are often attacked by Kusasis. We the people of Nayoko want to state categorically that, we are kusasis and have no relation with the Mamprusis in the Kusaug Traditional Area. We have no connection with the Mamprusis relating to traditions and customs. We speak Kusaal and celebrate Samanpiid which are key in determining one’s tribe, is completely different from that of the Mamprusis’ traditions and customs. We are land owners with several shrines, have chief legally enskinned by Naba Abugrago Asigri Azoka II, the overlord of Kusaug Traditional Area and president of the Kusaug Traditional Council, not settlers as they are.
We are Kusasis, and we are completely distancing ourselves from their grand evil agenda of trying to falsify other tribes in the Kusaug Traditional Area to support their agenda, to make it as though they are majority in the Kusaug Traditional Area. We are not part of that plan and want to warn that Nurudeen Gumah and his people should stay off from such pronouncements.
Friends of the media, Nurudeen Gumah also made a false claim that there have been series of attacks on the good people of Nayoko, we want to state categorically that it is baseless and has no merit. How can our fellow Kusasis attack us? They the Mamprusis always try to invade us, and there are series of life-threatening audios targeting some of our youth and there is evidence to this effect.
We have utmost trust in the government, and the Asantehene Mediation Committee in bringing lasting peace to the Kusaug Traditional Area. We admonish the committee to fast-track their work in bringing the long-awaited peace the people of Kusaug Traditional Area have been praying for.
In conclusion, we entreat the Mamprusis in Bawku to recognize Naba Abugrago Asigri Azoka II as the overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area and president of the Kusaug Traditional Council in bringing lasting peace. We are peace loving people, and we completely reject their evil plans to destabilize the peace that our old, young, and children are enjoying. We strongly advise that, tribe relations are by blood and not coercive association, and we by God given tribe are kusasis, and do not intent to trade our God given right for anything. All should desist.
