"BREAKING: Post-Mortem Report Reveals Cause of Masawud Shaibu's Death

The post-mortem analysis of Masawud Shaibu, who passed away in police custody, has revealed that he died from natural causes - ulcer and jaundice.

The report, conducted by a pathologist arranged by the MP of Ejura, contradicts initial suspicions of foul play.

"The late Masawud was arrested in Ejura for alleged stealing around 10:00 pm on January 10, 2025.

He was detained pending further investigations but complained of illness at 2:20 am and was taken to the Ejura Government Hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away while receiving medical treatment.

The incident escalated when some youth in Ejura attacked the police station, and set it ablaze.

The police worked to restore calm through engagement with opinion leaders and de-escalation efforts, with support from the military to maintain law and order."

POLICE RESTORE CALM AT EJURA FOLLOWING MOB ATTACK ON THE EJURA POLICE STATION

The Ghana Police Service has restored calm at Ejura following a mob attack on the Ejura Police Station in the early hours of today, Saturday, 11th January 2025.

The incident stemmed from the arrest of a suspect at about 10:00 pm yesterday, 10th January 2025, for an alleged case of stealing. The suspect was detained in Police custody pending further investigations.

Later at about 2:20 am, the suspect complained of illness and was promptly taken to the Ejura Government Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, he passed away this morning while receiving medical treatment.

While arrangements were being made to convey the body to the morgue for preservation and autopsy, some members of the Ejura community attacked the Police Station, set it ablaze and a section of the mob followed to where the body was and forcibly took it away.

The Police, through engagement with opinion leaders and de-escalation efforts, restored calm and there have been no casualties. The military later joined in to support the Police to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service has been on the ground to extinguish the fire.

POLICE RESTORE CALM AT NTOTROSO IN AHAFO REGION AFTER SOME PERSONS ATTEMPTED TO BREACH SECURITY AT THE NEWMONT MINING SITE

1. The Ghana Police Service has restored calm at Ntotroso in the Ahafo Region following an attempted breach of security at the Newmont mining site by some persons to allegedly steal gold last night, Wednesday, 8th January 2025.

2. During the operation to contain the situation, the Police confronted the suspects, leading to the death of three persons and injuries to four others.

3. The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, worked on the phone with the Regional Police team to engage community leaders and the youth throughout the night till this morning to stabilize the situation and there has been no reprisal attacks or escalation of the situation in the community.

4. A special investigation team from Accra has been sent to the area to investigate the incident whilst a reinforcement team has also been sent to the community to help ensure that there is peace, security, law and order.

5. The Police have received information that the three deceased victims are Muslims, and the due process of the law is being followed for the bodies to be released to their families for burial later today.

6. We urge the public to remain calm as the Police continue to work to ensure law and order prevail.
