Education is the key to unlocking opportunities, and today our very own Tempane MP and Minister of State in charge of Public Sector Reform proved her dedication once again. She reached out to support 50 hardworking students from tertiary institutions in the Tempane District.

‎Each student both young men and women received GH₵2,000 in cheque form to help ease the heavy financial burdens of school fees and upkeep.

‎For many of these students, this isn’t just money it is relief, encouragement, and a reason to keep pushing forward. It’s a powerful reminder that no dream should be left behind because of financial struggles.

‎ This is more than support; it is an investment in the next generation of leaders, teachers, doctors, engineers, and change-makers who will shape the future of Tempane and beyond.

Tempane District Get a Digital Boost.

‎History was made as the Tempane MP and Minister of State in charge of Public Sector Reform officially handed over the Yamoransa Model Lab 15 Project an ultra-modern computer laboratory fully equipped with 68 computers, 2 printers, and a 3D printer, and table and chairs.

‎At the colorful handing-over ceremony, Mr. Dramani Ibrahim, the Center Manager, highlighted how this facility will benefit both Tempane and Garu, creating opportunities for students and young people to acquire practical ICT skills and compete in the digital world.

‎The Hon. MP expressed pride that this project is the only one of its kind in the Upper East Region, describing it as a unique opportunity entrusted to her constituency. She urged teachers and stakeholders to make maximum use of the lab to raise the standard of education.

‎The Hon. DCE, Ayaaba Joseph Mbilla, assured the MP and the community of the assembly’s commitment to ensuring proper care and maintenance of the facility. The District Education Director, Mr. Phillip Alale Frederick, was full of gratitude, not only for the lab but also for the MP’s GH₵50,000.00 donation to support administrative work.

‎ Hon. Lawyer Musah Abdulai, former MCE for Bawku and Project Coordinator, stressed the importance of a maintenance culture, urging teachers and users to handle the facility responsibly so it can serve generations to come.

‎I have a serious concern about how our past and current DCEs are handling our DRIP equipment. Sadly, we are becoming our own problem.

‎Across almost all six administrative districts of Kusaug, these vital machines have not been properly cared for. When the districts received them last year, I personally visited three DCEs under President Akufo-Addo’s government. After the confirmation of the current MMDCEs, I again visited two of them in Kusaug with the same proposal. I even raised this issue live on Lord’s FM 95.9MHz in Tempane.

‎My proposal was simple but crucial: erect pavilions and park the equipment under proper shelter. Almost every DCE agreed it was a laudable idea, because leaving these machines at the mercy of the scorching sun and heavy rains is unacceptable.

‎Yet, what do we see today? Some assemblies have erected pavilions not for the people’s equipment but for their personal cars. Meanwhile, government property meant to serve the farmers and people of Kusaug is being left to waste.

‎These machines are not ordinary; they are of great importance to the development of our communities and the well-being of our farmers. I plead with our leaders: let us rethink how we are handling these resources. They belong to the people, not individuals.

‎Kusaug deserves better. Let’s protect what is ours.

President John Mahama has removed Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo from office after a Committee of Inquiry, acting under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, upheld a citizen’s petition alleging misconduct. The Committee found the claims proven and recommended her removal, which the President was constitutionally bound to implement.

Under Article 146 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, a Chief Justice can only be removed from office for "stated misbehaviour" or "incompetence."

When such a petition is filed, the President sets up a Committee of Inquiry (per Article 146(6)) to investigate.

The President cannot personally decide the outcome; he must act strictly on the Committee’s recommendation (Article 146(9)).

In this case, a citizen, Mr. Daniel Ofori, petitioned for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

The Committee found her guilty of stated misbehaviour.

The Committee recommended her removal.

Based on Article 146(9), President John Mahama had no choice but to remove her from office immediately.
