*Prampram Council Destools “Numo Lomotey Otsote” — Installation Declared Null Over Breach of Customary Law*
The Prampram Traditional Council, under the leadership of Nene Tetteh Wakah III, has declared the purported installation of “Numo Lomotey Otsote” as Stool Father of the Lomotey Wem and the Lakple Division null, void, and contrary to established customary procedures.
According to the Traditional Council, the installation did not follow the customs, traditions, and protocols governing traditional leadership appointments in Prampram. Consequently, Lomotey Otsote has been destooled and directed not to present, describe, or hold himself out as the Stool Father of the Lomotey Family or the Lakple Division.
The Council further ruled that the Lomotey Family does not possess the customary authority or right to install a Stool Father, stating that the recognized stool authority remains under Kle Obonu Wem. As such, any claim by Lomotey Otsote to the position of Stool Father is not recognized by the Traditional Council.
Additionally, the Traditional Council ordered the immediate removal of all traditional regalia and symbols purportedly used during the unlawful installation ceremony.
As part of the sanctions imposed, the Lomotey Family has been fined one goat, four bottles of Castle Bridge, and GH¢1,000 for their involvement in the unauthorized installation.
The Prampram Traditional Council has also advised all clans and families within the traditional area to strictly adhere to established customs, traditions, and customary procedures regarding traditional offices, appointments, and installations. The Council emphasized that respecting these processes is essential for maintaining peace, unity, order, and the integrity of traditional authority in Prampram.
