*Prampram Council Destools “Numo Lomotey Otsote” — Installation Declared Null Over Breach of Customary Law*

The Prampram Traditional Council, under the leadership of Nene Tetteh Wakah III, has declared the purported installation of “Numo Lomotey Otsote” as Stool Father of the Lomotey Wem and the Lakple Division null, void, and contrary to established customary procedures.

According to the Traditional Council, the installation did not follow the customs, traditions, and protocols governing traditional leadership appointments in Prampram. Consequently, Lomotey Otsote has been destooled and directed not to present, describe, or hold himself out as the Stool Father of the Lomotey Family or the Lakple Division.

The Council further ruled that the Lomotey Family does not possess the customary authority or right to install a Stool Father, stating that the recognized stool authority remains under Kle Obonu Wem. As such, any claim by Lomotey Otsote to the position of Stool Father is not recognized by the Traditional Council.

Additionally, the Traditional Council ordered the immediate removal of all traditional regalia and symbols purportedly used during the unlawful installation ceremony.

As part of the sanctions imposed, the Lomotey Family has been fined one goat, four bottles of Castle Bridge, and GH¢1,000 for their involvement in the unauthorized installation.

The Prampram Traditional Council has also advised all clans and families within the traditional area to strictly adhere to established customs, traditions, and customary procedures regarding traditional offices, appointments, and installations. The Council emphasized that respecting these processes is essential for maintaining peace, unity, order, and the integrity of traditional authority in Prampram.

*Thousands of Ghanaians Stranded After Forced Demolition of “Zimbabwe” Fishing Village in Côte d’Ivoire*
Community says land was gifted over 50 years ago; residents now sleeping on beach after overnight eviction_

Ningo TV contacted the chief of Zimbabwe, a Ghanaian fishing community in Côte d’Ivoire, about the ongoing demolition exercise that has displaced residents from their homes and left them stranded at the beach.

In the recording he made, the chief said Zimbabwe was given to Ghanaian fishermen over 52 years ago by the late former president of Côte d’Ivoire, Félix Houphouët-Boigny, who led his people to independence. In 2016, the current president approached them about relocation. Residents made it clear to the government that being close to the sea is essential to their work, and moving them away from the water would be a hindrance.

Two years ago, officials returned and wrote down the names of everyone living in Zimbabwe village for the relocation. Yesterday, in the early hours of the morning, soldiers and police forcibly evacuated everyone from their homes and began demolishing every structure, from wooden shacks to block houses.

He said there is no place for them to go, so they had to cross the river to the safe side with whatever belongings they could salvage from the demolition. They slept on the beach overnight with their belongings.

They are pleading with the Ghanaian government to come to their aid. They have already contacted the Ghanaian Ambassador, but he has not yet responded. The chief also said the fishermen can return to Ghana in their canoes, but the women and children will need government intervention to get home.

Zimbabwe village houses about 40,000 people. Over 7,000 are Ghanaians from the Ga-Dangme and Fante communities. They are asking the government to help them return to their home towns.
