2023 AFCON Qualifier: Cape Coast Stadium approved for Ghana's opener against Madagascar.
😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
The Cape Coast Stadium has been approved by the Confederation of African Football to host Ghana's AFCON 2023 qualifiers following the rejection of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars will return to Cape Coast in June for the opening game of the Nations Cup qualifiers against Madagascar, and the venue will also host games against the Central Africa Republic and Angola.

CAF rejected Ghana's proposal to continue the use of the Baba Yara Sports stadium after it was used for the World Cup playoff against Nigeria, following the poor state of the Cape Coast stadium.

However, upon meeting a CAF deadline of April 25, the continent's governing body agreed for the use of Cape Coast for Ghana's home games.

The Black Stars will begin their AFCON qualifiers on June 1st against Madagascar, before travelling to CAR for their second match in Group E.

The Black Stars will be hoping to make a return to the Africa Cup of Nations after a poor campaign in Cameroon early this year.

Reduce taxes on petroleum products now; consumers are suffering – Ablakwa to Akufo-Addo
North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has reiterated calls for the government to reduce to the taxes on petroleum products.

According to him, this must be done urgently as consumers are suffering, a suffering, the MP describes as “unbearable.”

In a tweet on Wednesday, November 2, Mr Ablakwa insisted that cost of petroleum products in the country is higher than what pertains in many countries near and far, such as Côte d’Ivoire, Togo Nigeria and the USA.

“I reiterate earlier calls for govt to urgently reduce the taxes on petroleum products. The suffering is unbearable.
“Cost of petrol & diesel in Ghana is higher than many countries including Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Nigeria & USA,” he said.

Meanwhile, he has charged Parliament to go ahead and reduce the taxes should the President fail to adhere to his appeal.

“If Prez Akufo-Addo doesn’t listen, Parliament must act,” he added.

On the same issue, a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby criticised the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

Dr. Wereko-Brobby said the Authority has failed to regulate fuel price hikes to protect consumers, adding that the NPA has failed in discharging its mandate.

Consequently, he wants the NPA dissolved.

“NPA is the regulator, why do you call them regulators if you can’t do anything? Then dissolve them.

“Why do we call them regulators, they are to make sure that the interest of the consumer and the business are both protected, you can’t have it one way.”

Fuel prices shot up again on Tuesday, November 1, with diesel hitting GH¢23.49 per litre, while petrol jumped to GH¢17.99 per litre with Kerosene also selling at GH¢14.70.

The new prices took effect on Tuesday, November 1.

One Million Ghanaians Could Fall Into Poverty Due To Climate Change – World Bank

At least one million more people could fall into poverty due to climate shocks if urgent climate actions are not taken.

According to the World Bank’s new Country Climate and Development Report for Ghana, income could also reduce by up to 40% for poor households by 2050.

The analysis calls for pursuing a development pathway that builds resilience to climate change and fosters a transition to low-carbon growth through a combination of policies and public and private investments.

“Ghana’s economic and human development is vulnerable to climate change. On average, flooding affects around 45,000 Ghanaians every year, and half of Ghana’s coastline is vulnerable to erosion and flooding as a result of sea-level rise”.

Without prompt actions, the World Bank pointed out that the higher temperatures and heat stress will affect crop and labour productivity, whilst more erratic rainfall patterns will damage buildings and infrastructure.

Again land degradation, water insecurity and local air pollution will also hamper human capital and productivity.

The report said Ghana has achieved major development gains over the past three decades, but progress has slowed down.

The report further highlighted that the country has not fully managed to convert its natural wealth into sufficient infrastructure, human, and institutional capital for sustained growth.

“The report demonstrates that Ghana can simultaneously pursue its long-term development and climate goals,” said Pierre Laporte, World Bank Country Director for Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

“Ghana’s contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions is small, with emissions on a per capita basis at 24% of the global average. The country can take a more resilient development pathway, avoiding costly lock-ins, leapfrogging to cutting-edge technologies, and starting

The first son of multiple award-winning Nigerian musician, Davido and his fiancee Chioma Rowland, Adeleke Ifeanyi has been confirmed dead.

Reports of the incident erupted Monday, October 31, 2022, after the young lad reportedly drowned at his Father’s Banana Island home.
He was rushed to Evercare Hospital in Lekki where he was said to have been pronounced dead.
Contrary to the reports by bloggers, Davido debunked the rumor, indicating that the doctor said that his son was not dead, and assured him that he will be awake in a few hours.
However, though the singer and his family have not made an official statement either to confirm the news or kick against it, posts made by a few Nigerian celebrities who are hit by the devastating news suggest that the singer has lost his son.

Some of these are comedians Ayo Makun and Lasisi Elenu, and radio personality Daddy Freeze among others.

Comedian Ayo Makun said on Instagram a day after the incident, Tuesday that “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic, this hit me so bad.”

“When the person you love is someone involved it becomes a heavy emotional burden. I am not confirming anything but bear with me I will not be live tonight’, said Daddy Freeze on an Instagram live.

Lasisi Elenu also posted, “Father heal your children’s hearts from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”

According to the source, the couple traveled for a family meeting in Ibadan on the same day, Monday, 31st October 2022, and left Ifeanyi with his caretakers who couldn’t explain how he entered the pull without their notice.
Reports maintain that quite a several people who were at Davido’s house when the incident happened have been arrested

‘It’s Not True That Dede Ayew Chased Me In My Dreams For The Number 10 Jersey In The Black Stars’- Kwadwo Asamoah

There was a wild rumour woven around a conspiracy theory some years ago that Inter Milan midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah dropped the famous number 10 Jersey which was later handed to Dede Ayew because the latter chased him in his dreams, literally!
Kwadwo Asamoah, speaking to award-winning journalist Gary Al Smith in an exclusive interview, revealed how he even landed the number 10 jersey in the first place, dropping his favourite number 20 for the iconic shirt.

According to him, it was former captain of the Black Stars who handed over the ‘dreaded’ number 10 jersey number to him during the 2008 AFCON tournament that was held in Ghana.

The former Juventus star who now plays for Inter Milan after spending 6-years in Turin, said his favorite jersey number has always been number 20 but he couldn’t resist the temptation of wearing the iconic number when Appiah made the recommendation to the team managers ahead of the AFCON because he (Appiah) got injured prior to the tournament and was not to b part of the team.

The energetic and combative midfielder debunked the rumour that he later rejected the jersey because of some juju worked against him within the Black Stars by his own team mates.

He said he never had any dream of lions chasing him to drop the jersey number for Dede Ayew as it was widely circulated. He also said he’s willing to work with Dede as the new captain of the team, adding that he has no qualms with whoever is made captain since the major thing he needs is the trophy and nothing else.

Ex-Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has stated that although Andre Ayew was his teammate in the national team, they are not friends.

“Andre is my teammate but he’s not my friend. In every job, you work together but not everyone is your friend that you go and come with,” the veteran striker said.

“Andre is my teammate and when we’re in camp we work together, but I can’t ask him to join me to go and sit somewhere and have a conversation. I also have my own clique.”
Gyan was a regular fixture in the Black Stars for almost two decades, having made his international debut in 2003.

However, he has not featured for the national team since playing at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

In the last three years, the 36-year-old has battled with niggling injuries while his time with Ghana Premier League outfit Legon Cities also didn’t go according to plan.

Despite his inactivity, though, he hasn’t retired and has opened his doors to a return to the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
