Hohoe, June 6 - Rice farmers at Gbi Wegbe in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region have appealed to Government and the National Buffer Stock Company to urgently purchase their produce.

They cited poor patronage and worsening financial difficulties.

The farmers said although they have large quantities of rice available for sale, buyers are not forthcoming.

The situation they said has made it difficult for many of them to prepare adequately for the next farming season.

Hohoe, June 4 - Four vehicles were involved in an accident on the Hohoe - Santrokofi road in the Volta Region, a stretch currently under construction.

The incident, which occurred on the night of Wednesday June 3, 2026.

It involved a Metro Mass Transit bus, two articulated trucks and an SUV with registration number GW 3110-Z.

Alavanyo, June 2 - One business that could benefit from the planned nationwide ban on takeaway packs is the harvesting and sale of wakye leaves in the Alavanyo Traditional Area in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region.

The Environmental Protection Authority has announced that the ban on the production, importation, distribution, sale and use of takeaway packs will take effect from January 1, 2027.

The wakye leaf business has, over the years, served as a source of livelihood for many residents in the area.

Alavanyo Kpeme, June 1, - It is about 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday at Alavanyo Kpeme in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region.

Traders are busily arranging fresh mangoes under a shade as the mango season gathers momentum in the area.

Women, children and young traders move from one point to another, sorting and arranging the fruits in baskets for buyers.

Hohoe, May 30, The Hohoe Municipal Assembly has officially handed over the site for the construction of the proposed 24-Hour Economy Market to the contractor, Tass Kalia Enterprise Ltd.

The project, estimated at GH¢31,504,272.80, is expected to improve trading activities, enhance economic opportunities and transform commercial activities within the municipality.

It will be completed within two and a half years.
