Ogomo Donates to Schools and Asuom Health Centre

In a remarkable display of patriotism and social responsibility, Mr. Bright Appiah, a US-based native of Asuom, popularly known as Ogomo, has donated modern, well-fitted dustbins to selected schools in Asuom and the Asuom Health Centre.

The beneficiary institutions comprise Presby A, B, C, M/A JHS, Roman Catholic Basic, and Methodist schools. Others include Islamic Basic School, Salvation Army School, New Ideal Basic School, Okyenhene Model JHS, Asuom Senior High School, and Asuom Health Centre.

The donation reflects Ogomo's commitment to promoting environmental sanitation, public health, and responsible waste management within his hometown. The provision of dustbins is expected to significantly enhance cleanliness in the beneficiary institutions, instilling a culture of proper hygiene and environmental consciousness among pupils, teachers, health workers, and visitors.

While presenting the items, Kofi Amoakwah, a representative of the donor, underscored the importance of maintaining clean surroundings, particularly in educational and health facilities where sanitation plays a critical role in safeguarding lives. Authorities of the beneficiary institutions received the items with gratitude and commended Ogomo for his timely and thoughtful intervention.

They noted that the donation will significantly support ongoing efforts to maintain school compounds and the health centre, ensuring they remain neat, orderly, and safe for academic activities and healthcare delivery.

Mr. Bright Appiah, widely known in Asuom as Ogomo, has consistently demonstrated interest in the development of Asuom despite residing abroad. HISTORIC VISIT OF ASUOM ELDERS TO THE RESIDENCE OF HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT JOHN MAHAMA

In a landmark moment for the people of Akyem Asuom, chiefs and elders of the traditional area paid a historic visit to the residence of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, emerging with firm assurances that could significantly reshape the town’s development trajectory.

The delegation, led by the Mmrewasanhene and the Krontihene of Akyem Asuom, presented a passionate and well-articulated appeal on behalf of the people. Their requests centered on three long-standing needs: the construction of the Kade–Asuom road, the upgrading of the Asuom Health Centre, and the creation of a new district for Asuom and its surrounding towns and villages, separate from the Kwaebibrem Municipality.

Responding positively, President Mahama gave strong assurances that the concerns of the chiefs and people of Asuom had been heard. In a move that exceeded expectations, the President pledged not merely to upgrade the existing health centre to a polyclinic, but to construct a fully-fledged district hospital in Asuom—comparable to the modern facility currently being built at Bole–Bamboi.

The President further confirmed that the Kade–Asuom road would be constructed, addressing a critical infrastructure challenge that has long affected transportation and economic activity in the area. On local governance, he also assured the delegation that Asuom would be elevated to district capital status in the upcoming district creation exercise.
These commitments were received with excitement and renewed hope by the Asuom delegation, led by Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, who expressed deep appreciation to the President for his responsiveness and vision. For many residents, the visit marks a turning point: one that signals accelerated development, improved healthcare, and greater administrative autonomy for Asuom and its neighboring communities.

The historic engagement stands as a powerful example of traditional leadership engaging constructively with central government to advance the welfare of their people.

A 12-year-old girl, Aisha Sammed, who lives with her grandmother at Akyem Kade, has been reported missing after leaving home on Thursday.

According to family sources, Aisha left the house and has not returned since, raising serious concern among relatives and residents in the area. Efforts by the family to trace her whereabouts have so far proven unsuccessful.

The family is therefore appealing to the general public for assistance. Anyone who has seen Aisha Sammed or has any information that could help locate her is kindly urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the family immediately on 0249564347/ 059 538 9494.

The family is hopeful that with public support and information sharing, Aisha will be found and reunited safely with her loved ones.

Nkwarteng: UPDATE ON THE DEATH OF MR. OPARE, FORMERLY OF ASUABENA DA BASIC.

A team of COHBS members, led by the chairman, today went to Nkwarteng in solidarity with the Nkwarteng headteachers, teachers, and the family of our late brother.
On arrival, we met the Director and his team, the Divisional Police Commander and his team, as well as the DCE and his team.

The District Director of Education had a closed-door meeting with all headteachers and teachers present. He assured us of a full-scale investigation by the Ghana Police Service, which is already ongoing, to bring the perpetrators to book.

He also assured teachers of the Nkwarteng circuit of their safety during this trial moment.

Meanwhile, teachers from Asuabena and Kuntenase are to lay down their tools until further notice in solidarity with the untimely death of our colleague.

The DCE and the Police Command also assured us of their preparedness to find justice for our deceased colleague. In addition, they entreated us not to hesitate in providing further information that may uncover the circumstances that led to Mr. Opare's demise.

Leadership is grateful to all headteachers who took time off their busy schedules to join us at Nkwarteng today.
