Hon. Owen Kwame Frimpong, Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, has renovated the block housing the Asamankese Fire Station and other government agencies. This initiative follows his courtesy call on August 20, 2025, where he discussed infrastructure upgrades with the Municipal Fire Commander, DOII Amos Kaku-Kyi.

The renovation enhances operational efficiency for the Fire Service and co-located agencies, marking a significant step forward in community safety. A proposal for a new fire station remains under consideration.

DOII Kaku-Kyi expressed gratitude for the swift action, highlighting the collaborative spirit driving progress in community safety.

Aquaculture in Fanteakwa South was once a booming venture, with farmers investing in fish ponds and cage farming for both food and income, but that story has changed. Over eighty percent of waterlogged areas suitable for pond production in Osino and nearby communities have been wiped out by illegal mining. A 2024 Report by Abraham Nketiah, Station Officer in charge of Osino Zone for the Veterinary Service explained that one of the major losses is the Solar Fish Farm at Osino....

Five cases of rabies were recorded in Eastern Region in 2024. The cases were detected in Donkokrom in Afram Plains North, Oyoko in New Juaben North, Monrovia and Nyamekrom in New Juaben South. The Veterinary Services Department in Eastern Region however laments that the cases are underreported as many owners of animals refuse to report suspected cases of rabies or dog bites for accurate records on the disease....
