Asantewaa Stands Up for Gisela Amid Backlash Over GH₵10k Curtain Purchase for Her New Apartment
Ghanaian TikTok star Asantewaa has defended fellow social media influencer Gisela Amponsah after she faced criticism for spending GH₵10,600 on curtains for her new apartment.
The controversy started when the blogger Gist For Life posted a video on TikTok expressing disbelief over the amount Gisela spent on the curtains. In the video, Gist For Life speculated about the ownership of the apartment, questioning whether it was rented, bought, or provided by Gisela's employer. The blogger remarked that such a high expenditure on curtains suggested the apartment itself could be worth GH₵80,000 to GH₵100,000 for a couple of years.
The video sparked mixed reactions from social media users. Asantewaa, using her verified TikTok account , joined the discussion to defend Gisela. She commented that curtains could cost as much as GH₵20,000 or more, questioning why Gisela's expenditure was being scrutinized. She also highlighted the challenges content creators face and suggested the criticism was unwarranted.
“Even if the curtains cost GH₵20,000 or more, why should it be anyone’s concern? Content creators are already dealing with a lot; this entire debate is unnecessary,” Asantewaa wrote.
In addition, Asantewaa recorded a nine-minute video addressing the backlash, further defending Gisela. Although the video was later deleted, her defense emphasized her stance against the criticism aimed at her fellow influencer.
