4th June 1979 conceived “THE 4th Republic of Ghana”. This day is popularly known as the The People’s Revolution. It is the day the military and the civilians came together to fight against corruption and kalabuley under General Fred Akuffo regime. on 15th May, 1979. The Late FLT.LT JJ Rawlings was sentenced to death for a failed coup under the Akuffo Regime. The rank-and-file soldiers broke the Nsawam prisons early morning on 4th June 1979 to freed Late J J Rawlings and overthrown then military ruler and told the people of Ghana on Radio Ghana that “ THIS IS NOT COUP, THIS IS REVOLUTION.
