DDF and Regional HASAG Patron Engages Retired Accounting Staff in Strategic Meeting
The Deputy Director of Finance for the Ashanti Region and Regional Patron of HASAG, Mr. Isaac Appiah Duodu, has held a strategic engagement with retired accounting staff of the Ghana Health Service. The meeting took place on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, at the Metro Health Directorate conference Hall in Kumasi.
In an exclusive interview, the Regional Financial Secretary, Mr. Adams Ganiwu, explained that the purpose of this engagement was to strengthen the bond between current HASAG members and retirees. He noted that involving retired staff will help foster mentorship, knowledge transfer, and professional guidance for upcoming accountants within the service.
During the engagement, the Patron encouraged retirees to explore productive ventures such as the supply of goods and services, opening retail businesses, and other commercial activities to keep them active during retirement. He emphasized that, in many jurisdictions, retirement starts around age 67; therefore, the experience and expertise of these retirees remain invaluable.
Mr. Duodu further proposed the formation of a Retirees Association to create a structured platform for continuous engagement, social interaction, and collaborative support. He assured the group of his full commitment to making this initiative vibrant within the Ashanti Region, noting that the region could become the first in Ghana to formally establish such a body for retired accounting staff.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, their chairman Mr. Alhaji Bismark Dauda expressed deep appreciation to the DDF for the initiative. He revealed that the Regional HASAG President, Mr. Shamsudeen Mohammed, had already reached out regarding enhanced engagement between the mother association and retirees. He described the meeting as timely and an excellent opportunity to formally establish the Retirees Association, which he believes can be replicated across other regions.
