*YAPEI-KUSAWGU NPP CONSTITUENCY CHAIRMAN - COURTESY CALL ON DEBRE-WURA*

On Tuesday, 1st September 2026, the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency Chairman, Hon. Issahaku Musah Mankpang, paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Debre-Wura Sulwu Adanaba Tuboresa II.

The purpose of the visit was to convey fraternal greetings from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and to formally appreciate the Traditional Council for its pivotal role in sustaining peace, unity and development in the Debre Traditional Area.

Hon. Mankpang lauded the Debre-Wura for his visionary and fatherly leadership, which has been a beacon for peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups in the area.

He further reiterated the party's commitment to continuous collaboration and deep respect for the chieftaincy institution.
The delegation is grateful to the Debre-Wura for his warm hospitality.

May Allah grant His Majesty long life, good health and wisdom.

Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings,
MP for Korle Klottey, has donated 1,000 educational and essential items to students in her constituency who are preparing to enter Senior High School.
The items include books, school bags, mosquito nets, blankets, modern chop boxes, and student mattresses, aimed at supporting the students as they begin their SHS journey.

*YAGBONWURA'S DAMBA 2026 ENDS SUCCESSFULLY IN DAMONGO*

*Damongo - 30th August, 2026*

The 2026 Damba Festival of the Overlord of Gonja Land, His Royal Majesty the Yagbonwura, has come to a successful end at Damongo with a grand durbar of chiefs and people.

The festival, which was graced by a host of prominent personalities from Accra and across the country, was chaired by the overlord himself.

Among the special guests present were the Chief of Staff, Hon. Dr. Julius Debrah, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Pandit Asiamah Johnson, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, the CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Basintale, the Savannah Regional Minister, traditional leaders, party members, and other dignitaries.

Delivering a statement on behalf of the President, the Guest of Honour, Hon. Dr. Julius Debrah said H.E. John Dramani Mahama was supposed to be present himself but is currently out of the country. He, however, stressed that the President's mind and spirit is with the Gonja Kingdom.

He said the government is committed to developing tourist sites in the Savannah Region to attract both local and foreign tourists and to create sustainable jobs for the youth. As part of his support, he announced a donation of "Two Billion Old Ghana Cedis (GH¢200,000)* to the Be Kunuto Fund."

On behalf of Yagbonwura, his representative delivered the overlord's speech, thanking the government for the good work done so far in the Savannah Region. He, however, appealed for more development.

The Yagbonwura called for:
1. More job creation for the youth
2. Improved health facilities in Gonjaland
3. Collective action against drug abuse among the youth

He noted with concern that many young people are getting into drugs and called on government, stakeholders, and traditional leaders to act quickly, as the youth are the future leaders of the kingdom and the nation.

The Damba Festival is one of the biggest traditional festivals of the people of Gonjaland, celebrated to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed.

Ministry of Education has postponed the release of the 2026/2027 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) results from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4, 2026.

The extension will allow more than 20,000 qualified students to complete pending data submissions required for SHS and TVET placement.
