PRESS STATEMENT BY THE CONCERNED YOUTH OF SABOBA - 4th July, 2025
--------------------------------------------------
ON THE RESPONSE TO OUR PETITION CONCERNING AG HOSPITAL, SABOBA
Dated: 7th May, 2025.
----------------------------------------------------
The Concerned Youth of Saboba wishes to inform the general public and all stakeholders that our petition, submitted on 7th May, 2025 to the Honorable District Chief Executive of the Saboba District Assembly and copied to various relevant institutions, has received the attention and response it truly deserved.
The said petition highlighted several pressing concerns affecting the operations and service delivery of AG Hospital, the only major hospital in the Saboba District and a referral point for some neighboring districts like Chereponi in the North East region. These issues, ranging from unjustified staff transfers, lack of essential services, strained interdepartmental relationships, to overall mismanagement, prompted us to demand immediate intervention.
We are pleased to report that most of the institutions copied the petition responded to our concerns including; The Director General of the Ghana Health Service, AG Care Ghana, National Security, Regional Health Directorate, Traditional leaders amongst other relevant institutions.
We want to officially inform the general public that a highly powered delegation, composed of the Director General of Ghana Health Services, the Regional Directorate and the Board of AG Care visited the hospital recently. Following a thorough investigation into the matters raised, the team saw it fit to request that Mr. Francis Atuuro, the General Manager of AG Hospital step aside, pending further investigation and action.
This decision is a significant step toward restoring integrity, professionalism, and effective healthcare delivery at AG Hospital. We see it as a strong indication that our voices have been heard and that leadership is being held accountable.
We, the Concerned Youth of Saboba, would like to:
1. Commend the swift response from AG Care Ghana and all institutions involved.
2. Reaffirm our commitment to protecting the welfare of our people and the development of quality healthcare in our district.
3. Call for continuous monitoring and transparent reforms at AG Hospital to ensure lasting change.
4. Encourage healthcare professionals and stakeholders to continue to work together in rebuilding trust and excellence in service delivery.
This outcome is not just a victory for the youth but for every citizen of Saboba and the surrounding communities who rely on AG Hospital for their health and survival.
We thank all the Youth, supporters, institutions, and individuals who stood with us in this course, despite the challenges we encountered, our ancestors and the gods of our land stood solidly behind us in this all important course.
We wish to state clearly that the Concerned Youth of Saboba is a law abiding force that will continue to act within the law for accountability and the development of Saboba .
Signed,
