The people of Awusakpe Community came together in a remarkable show of unity and communal spirit during a massive clean-up exercise organised ahead of the rainy season. The initiative was led by the Unit Committee Chairman for Agorkpo Electoral Area, John Mawuli Yezuvor, in consultation with the Assembly Member for Agorkpo Electoral Area, Hon. Gideon Agbi, as part of efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and prevent flooding within the community.
The exercise attracted several dignitaries and stakeholders, including the DCE for South Tongu, Victoria Dzeklo, the Deputy Director General of the National Signals Bureau, Kofi Adoli, the District Director of YEA, John Amekudzi, district assembly sanitary officers, and many community members who actively participated in the exercise.
Speaking during the programme, Victoria Dzeklo advised the youth to stay away from smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, emphasizing the need for discipline and healthy living. She later toured the Awusakpe Community School and assured residents that the Assembly would work tirelessly to ensure the completion of the school project. She also supported participants by donating water and assorted drinks.
Kofi Adoli donated GHΒ’1,000 towards the success of the exercise and further pledged to support the youth with football jerseys and footballs to encourage sporting activities in the community.
Additionally, John Amekudzi donated water and assorted drinks, while Bernard Dzinyela and Lawer Egbenya each contributed GHΒ’200 in support of the initiative.
The successful exercise highlighted the strong sense of togetherness, development, and communal responsibility among the people of Awusakpe as they prepare for the rainy season.
