Emmanuel Hedro’s Role in the Murder of Mawutor Adzahli

Emmanuel Hedro (alias Asco) was the one who tipped off Richard Adikyere about Mawutor Adzahli, showed him the assemblyman’s house, and according to police, stayed in contact with the killers throughout the night of the attack.

On the night of the attack (March 1, 2020), while the gang waited until dawn to strike, Hedro acted normal, working his usual okada rounds in town. After the murder, he quietly went home at 5 AM, right before the news of Mawutor’s death spread.

Later, he bought a Haojue motorbike with his cut of the stolen money, telling police it came from “savings” and the sale of his TV.

He even joined the demonstration demanding justice for the very man he helped set up.

Police almost let him go, until evidence tied him directly to the killers.

Today, he’s been sentenced to 47 years in prison.

Justice has been served.

Final Verdicts in the Mawutor Adzahli Case

On the morning of Thursday, 22nd May 2025, judgement was passed on the last three individuals involved in the robbery and murder of Mawutor Adzahli, Assemblyman for Sogakope South.

1. Richard Adikyere (alias Ofa) – Identified as the ringleader and the one who pulled the trigger. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

2. Stephen Adzibolo (alias Tseko) – Was present at the crime scene during the attack. He has been sentenced to 47 years in prison.

3. Emmanuel Hedro (alias Asco) – A Sogakope native who wasn’t physically present at the scene but played a central role. It was Hedro who first called Richard Adikyere, telling him there was a wealthy mobile money vendor in Sogakope, and urged him to organise a gang and come rob him. Richard had never met Mawutor prior to this.

This completely debunks the rumours suggesting Mawutor had financial disagreements or refused to pay anyone. The attack was purely motivated by greed, triggered by Hedro’s tip-off.

Further, after the robbery and murder, Hedro used his share of the stolen money to purchase a Haojue motorbike.

Justice has taken its course.

Below are pictures of them in court.

Clarification on the Mawutor Adzahli Case

Many are under the impression that prosecutions in this case only began recently, but that’s not true.

The trial actually started back in 2020. As expected, murder cases take time. In November 2023, four individuals: Michael Sam, Samuel Kofi Zotorvi (alias Opanka), Christian Zotorvi, and Obed Ayornu (alias Obolo), pleaded guilty on the first day in court and were sentenced to 15 years each for abetment of crime.

They didn’t waste the court’s time, and some of them admitted to providing the murder weapon. I’m also aware Michael Sam was physically present at the crime scene.

Now, in the photo below, I have identified Richard Adikyere (alias Ofa). He’s the one who pulled the trigger and was sentenced to life imprisonment just yesterday.

I’ll bring more updates on the latest sentencing. Stay tuned.
