On behalf of the Bono Regional Executives, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to every community that made the Annual Learning Workshop “Train the Trainer” in Sunyani a success.

Thank you for presenting your reports with courage. You spoke openly about drug abuse, sanitation, teenage pregnancy, and the need for refuse dump sites. These are not easy topics, but your willingness to name them shows true leadership and love for your people.

We saw the different stages you are in: Zongo and Yawhima in the Listening Phase, Baakoniaba in the Negotiations Phase. This tells us that the organizing work is alive in all 3 communities. We are proud of you.

Our heartfelt thanks to our facilitators: Rev. Fobil, Bono Regional Coordinator, and Imam Abdul Latif, Assistant Coordinator, for guiding us with wisdom and patience. And to all Regional Executives who supported this training .Your service is appreciated.

During the workshop, many of you shared that you wish this training could happen every month, not just annually. We are grateful for your hunger to learn and grow.

While the big annual workshop remains, please remember that every month we will continue to engage with each of you at your community meetings. Rev. Fobil, Imam Abdul Latif, and the executives are with you regularly to support, guide, and listen. The work does not stop after Sunyani.

We will continue to walk with you. We will continue to equip you, pray with you, and organize with you. Because our mission is clear: to build communities where everyone belongs, thrives, and has a say.

Go back to your communities stronger and united.

As part of the workshop, Baakoniaba also presented its annual community report. The major challenges identified and presented were:

Teenage pregnancy. The community highlighted the rising cases of teenage pregnancy. This is leading to school dropouts, loss of opportunities for young girls, and increased economic pressure on families in Baakoniaba.

Sanitation. Poor sanitation was also presented as a key concern. Improper waste disposal and unclean public spaces are affecting the health and wellbeing of residents.

In line with the training, Baakoniaba has moved into the negotiations phase of the organizing circles. They are currently engaging stakeholders to build agreements and partnerships needed to act.

As part of the workshop, Yawhima presented its annual community report. The key challenges identified and presented were:

Drug Abuse. The community highlighted the increasing cases of drug abuse among the youth. This is leading to idleness, crime, and loss of productive energy among young people in Yawhima.

Yawhima specifically raised the issue of poor sanitation due to the absence of a designated refuse dump site. Because there is no proper place to dispose of waste, residents are forced to dump refuse indiscriminately. This is creating filth, bad odour, and health risks in the community.

After their presentation, Yawhima was equipped with knowledge on community organizing, leadership development, and how to use a Listening Campaign to understand and address local problems.

They were encouraged to engage both formal and informal leaders in finding sustainable solutions.

As part of the workshop, Sunyani Zongo presented its annual community report. The major challenges identified and presented by Zongo were:

Drug abuse among the youth was highlighted as a growing concern. It is affecting peace, education, and the future of young people in Zongo.

Poor sanitation and waste management in some areas of the community were also presented. This is affecting the health, cleanliness, and dignity of residents.

Following their presentation, the community was equipped with knowledge and strategies to address the above challenges. They were trained on community organizing and leadership development.

In line with the training, Sunyani Zongo has entered the organizing phase. The first activity we are initiating is a Listening Campaign to diagnose the root causes of drug abuse and sanitation challenges in Zongo by directly engaging community members.

Community leaders and volunteers will conduct engagements with youth, elders, traders, landlords, imams, and chiefs to listen, understand, and gather information.

We believe that effective solutions can only be developed after we have properly understood the problem from the people who experience it. This is the current organizing stage for Zongo.

Sunyani Zongo appreciates Faith in Action Ghana for the training and support. We are committed to working with both formal and informal leaders in the community to use the findings from the Listening Campaign to develop sustainable solutions.

Our mission remains: to build a Zongo where everyone belongs, thrives, and has a say.

BONO REGION FAITH IN ACTION GHANA ANNUAL LEARNING WORKSHOP 2026.
Theme: “Train the Trainer”
Venue: Sunyani.
Date: 23/05/2026

We have just concluded our Regional Annual Learning Workshop Festival in Sunyani, and it was nothing short of powerful.

This year, we gathered leaders and representatives from three key communities Sunyani Zongo, Baakoniaba, and Yawhima, together with our Bono Regional Executives.

Why “Train the Trainer”?

Because we know that without a timeline, teams can get stuck or distracted, so our main purpose was to equip community alliances with practical tools to build clear timelines and stay on track with the organizing process. When leaders are organized, communities move forward.

The Real Issues We Faced Together:

Each community presented its annual report. Three major challenges stood out across the region:
1. Drug Abuse is destroying the future of our youth
2. Sanitation affecting health and dignity
3. Teenage Pregnancy cuts short education and opportunities

Instead of just talking about problems, we were equipped with knowledge and strategies to tackle these “cankers” head-on.

Our Approach: Leadership from Within.

We trained participants to organize and develop new leaders who will take full responsibility for their problems. The strategy is simple but powerful:

1. Listening Campaigns to truly understand what our people are experiencing
2. Collaboration to work with both formal leaders like chiefs, assembly members, and informal leaders like pastors, imams, elders, and youth leaders for sustainable solutions.

Who We Are:

Faith in Action Ghana is a faith-based organization made up of Islam, Christianity, and African Traditional Religion working together as one. We prove every day that our different beliefs are not a barrier they are our strength for community development.

Our Mission;

To develop community leaders and organizations.
To create a world where everyone belongs, thrives, and has a say.

To all participants from Sunyani Zongo, Baakoniaba, Yawhima, and the Bono Regional Executives thank you for your energy, honesty, and commitment. The real work starts now as we take these tools back to our communities.

We are not waiting for solutions. We are the solution.

“Let the days go by and do as they wish
Be content (with whatever) Divine decrees
Do not grieve over overnight incidents
For the incidents of this world do not last forever
Be bold in the face of calamities, and strong
And let your character be that of forgiveness and loyalty”
