FAITH in Ghana Alliance is a multi-faith network of diverse Christian and Muslim faith traditions It is devoted to undertaking common and joint actions that promote Inclusion, Transparency, and Harmony in the Ghanaian Society. It draws its membership from:
The Marshallan Relief and Development Services (MAREDES)
The Federation of Muslim Women's Associations in Ghana (FOMWAG)
The Office of the National Chief Imam (ONCI)
The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC)
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana (AMM)
The National Catholic Secretariat of the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference (NCS/GCBC)
The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG)
Caritas Ghana
Conference of Major Superiors of Religious Women - Ghana
At the national level, these faith-based organizations and secretariats have contributed in different ways to develop the FAITH in Ghana Alliance. In 2024, FAITH in Ghana Alliance was registered according to the national legal requirements for the governance and management of Not-for-Profit Organizations and Associations with a Constitution and Board of Directors. The Alliance consists of a national steering committee representing each religious tradition, and similar regional multi-faith alliances in ten regions (Northern, Upper-West, Upper-East, North-East, Savannah, Ashanti, Central, Greater Accra, Bono, & Western Regions) have now been transformed to organizing units and committees giving them voice and ownership.
Ghana is well known for its tradition of peaceful religious coexistence, which is deeply grounded in families and communities. However, sustaining and deepening multi-faith relationships requires active work and leadership. We engage in multi-faith community organizing to develop the leadership of regular Ghanaians so that they can put their faith into action and transform their lives, communities, and country.
Multi-faith community organizing is a systematic process through which people can join together to listen to the concerns and ideas of their neighbors, set priorities for improving their communities, research solutions, and negotiate changes with public officials. Multi-faith organizing helps people go from passive observers of what is happening in their communities and country to active participants and also enables people to unite across different faiths and regions to develop a shared vision for Ghana.
