*A DISRESPECT TO THE NAYIRI, OVERLORD OF MANPURUGU, AN INSULT TO MERIT, AND A DANGEROUS PRECEDENT*
The attempt to sideline *Dr. Nashiru Abukari*—a man who has faithfully served the Nalerigu Health Training College for nearly *two decades* as Vice Principal—is not only an insult to competence and professionalism, but a *disrespectful affront to the Nayiri, His Royal Majesty Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area.*
We express deep disappointment over the alleged actions of *Alhaji Baba*, the former Member of Parliament for Nalerigu/Gambaga, who is reportedly working behind the scenes to install his preferred candidate by manipulating traditional and political channels. His alleged act of *convincing the WULA-NA*, a respected Sub-Chief, to endorse his son for the position of Principal—just to silence the voice of the Nayiri—is not only *dishonorable* but also an attempt to *sow division between the King and his loyal Sub-Chiefs*.
This behavior is *unacceptable*. It seeks to twist tradition for personal gain, override professionalism, and weaken the unity and authority of the Mamprugu Kingdom.
Dr. Nashiru Abukari has served with *diligence, humility, and excellence*. That he is now being overlooked after close to *20 years* of loyal service as Vice Principal is a *betrayal of justice*, a *slap in the face of competence*, and a *clear signal that tribal favoritism is being placed above merit*.
We, the Concerned Nurses and Alumni of Nalerigu Health Training College, therefore:
- *Condemn* in the strongest terms this blatant political interference,
- *Reject* any appointment that does not reflect merit and due process,
- *Appeal directly to the Hon. Minister of Health, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, and the Director of Human Resources* to do the right thing and *appoint Dr. Nashiru Abukari* as Principal of the college without delay.
This is not just about a position. It is about *upholding professional integrity*, *preserving traditional respect**, and *restoring faith in our health institutions*.
Let us protect what is right. Let us respect the word of the *Nayiri, Overlord of Mamprugu*. Let us reward competence, not connection.
