HE DIDN'T DO IT FOR ME, BUT HE SHOWED ME HOW TO DO IT MYSELF.
At the end of 2011, I moved from Bonya, where I was born and went to primary school, to Tuobodom to further my education at TSTS.
My friend, Nana Meriku, now known as Mr. Meflix who is still one of my best friends, asked me to take him to visit his friend, Nana Yeboah, now called Crystal de MorningStar.
At that time, I was using a Nokia phone that could download Java and Symbian apps. Nana Yeboah saw my phone and asked me to give it to him to check something on Facebook. (There was a Facebook app on it, but I didn't know what it was used for, let alone how to sign up or sign in.)
Nana Yeboah, now called Crystal, logged in to his Facebook account, checked on his friends at APS, read messages, logged out, and returned my phone to me. He briefly explained Facebook as he was scrolling through his "timeline."
I then asked, "Nana Yeboah, please create a Facebook account for me." He replied, "Let me teach you how to create it and do it yourself."
Crystal Morningstar asked me to open the Facebook app and then told me to select "Create Account." I did, and they were asking me questions. Crystal said, "Just answer the questions they are asking you and select 'Next' once you're done."
I did and got to the next step where they asked me for a password. I didn't have a password and didn't even know what a password was. I wondered where I would get this password from.
At that time, Crystal and Mr. Meflix were having a conversation as we were walking from Crystal's place to town. I didn't want to interrupt their conversation or feel embarrassed, being a "village boy just coming to the city." Fearful, but unsure what to do, I waited until Crystal turned and asked me, "Have you done with all the procedures?"
With fear and smelling a bit nervous, I replied, "Left with the password, I don't have one and I don't know where to get some." Crystal laughed at me, along with Mr. Meflix, and said, "Any 6 letters or words that you can remember?" He added, "But remember, anytime you log out, they will ask for your phone number and this password, so make sure you remember it."
I nervously suggested, "I want to use 123456," thinking he would help me remember it if I forgot.
But Crystal said, "Don't tell anyone, including me. It should be your secret code." He then added, "You can change it anytime if you go to settings in your account." He continued, "This is how to fill and sign up for any account on any site, just that the requirements may be different, but it's like filling out forms." I said, "Thank you."
By then, I had completed the procedures. As my profile page opened, he continued to teach me the features and how to use the app effectively.
We then reached town where his mother sells rice. He sat us down and got us some of his mother's rice to eat.
On the way home, Mr. Meflix talked more about Crystal to me, his singing voice, and his contributions to SDA music, as well as his intelligence and BEECE results at APS.
I came home and wrote the password on the wall of my room. Since then, I've opened many different accounts, including my Yahoo account, which I use for all my official documents. I've also used the internet to purchase and sell countless items.
Thank you, Crystal MorningStar. You are the foundation of my technological revolution. Thank you for your selflessness in teaching me, not doing it for me.
