JASIKAN MCE PREPARES MUNICIPALITY FOR REGULATED OKADA OPERATIONS 🏍️🇬🇭

​Following the passage of the Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2025 by Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Jasikan Parke-Davis Magyigbe has kicked off critical stakeholder engagements to prepare the municipality for the legal framework governing commercial motorcycle (Okada) operations.

​The engagement brings together key institutions including the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Ghana (DVLA), MTTD, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), and local transport operators.

The new law formalizes commercial motorcycle transport while enforcing strict operational guidelines to protect lives.

​Riders will undergo mandatory formal training and must acquire the appropriate commercial riding license before operating fare-paying services.

​Legalization is NOT a license for indiscipline or reckless riding. Helmet compliance, roadworthiness, speed management, and traffic regulations will be strictly enforced.
​
The goal is to harness job creation and mobility benefits without compromising public safety.
