Not the best of news🥹🥹 If you’ve ever been to the Bronx, you know this can easily happen unprovoked…May he rest in perfect peace and may the family of George Ennin be greatly comforted in Jesus name. This hurts!!! 😭
On Monday afternoon, January 5, around 2:00 p.m., George Ennin, 53 was walking to work in his security guard uniform when he was approached totally unprovoked by a stranger in front of a pizzeria at 3077 3rd Avenue in the Melrose section of the Bronx, New York. He had recently returned from a month-long trip to Ghana just before the incident occurred.
Surveillance video showed the attäcker lunging at Ennin with a kick; Ennin dodged the initial blow but tripped on uneven bricks as he tried to retreat. The assailant then stâbbed him multiple times in the neck, chin, face, and abdomen. Ennin managed to take 29 steps before collapsing. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dêad.
On Tuesday, January 6, the NYPD arrested Sean Jones, 38, a resident of Morrisania and a deranged career crimínal with more than a dozen busts on his rap sheet and over 20 prior arrests. Jones was charged with múrdèr, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. As of January 7, 2026, he was undergoing a mental evaluation pending arraignment.
Ennin was a Ghanaian immigrant and a single father who raised his two daughters alone. Neighbors described him as a devoted "girl dad" and a hard-working member of the community.
A go fund me has been set up to help with funeral expenses and support his two daughters. The línk is in the comment section.
