According To Our Beloved Shaykh Muhammad Nurudeen Muhammad Raaji (RTA) prayering for the gone souls is accepted In Islam And Also Recitation Of The Holy Qur'an (Sur'ah Yaseen) is recommending according to the Hadeeth or narrations of our beloved Prophet And Messenger Muhammad ( SAWAW).
قال رسول الله (ص) أقرءوا لموتاكم سورة يس
Recite Surah Yaseen for your dead ones because is a source of mercy and forgiveness towards them.
Because this particular Sur'ah has not got command nor prohibition.
