Mr. Raymond Yinzee Puzer, Deputy Public Relations Officer, has called on the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, stating that the Nalamtaaba concession is not for Chinese interests and can never be for Chinese interests. According to him, the concession is a business meant for local people, who would never be interested in working under very poor and risky conditions associated with Earl International Gold Ghana Group (formerly known as Shaanxi Mining Ltd.).

He further urged the Minerals Commission to stop harassing Nalamtaaba Mining Enterprise in an attempt to forcefully take over the concession and award it to Chinese parties. He described this action as an act of self-betrayal and corruption, and an act against President Mahama’s Resettling Ghana Agenda. He also said it undermines local production and local business promotion. Most importantly, he alleged that the actions of the Minerals Commission amount to contempt of court.

He called on the Military to comply with the Court Order, just as the Police have done, and to avoid harassing Nalamtaaba or attacking its site. He emphasized that the Military should not comply with instructions from the Minerals Commission because the matter is currently before the court. He stated that the Minerals Commission cannot be its own judge. He urged the Military to remain neutral, noting that their “brothers” are working to feed Mother Ghana and support themselves.

Mrs. Doris Nwanbila, a staff member of Nalamtaaba Mining Company in the Talensi District of Ghana’s Upper East Region, has stated that if Nalamtaaba Mining Company is not allowed to mine on its concession, then Earl International Gold Ghana—a Chinese company—should not be allowed to conduct mining.

The West Mamprusi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Mohammed Rabiu Jabaah, in the North East Region, has appealed to the people of the West Mamprusi Municipality to comply with the main agenda of the community-driven development (CDD) under the Advocates for Community Alternatives (ACA).
He urged residents not to rush, but to allow the community adequate time to properly plan and implement their own projects.

Nana Ama Nketia-Quaidoo, Director of Community-Driven Development (CDD) at Advocates for Community Alternatives (ACA), stated that ACA gives communities ample time to plan and implement projects without rushing. She explained that after four years, the organization will shift to another discipline, but this will depend on the availability of funding.

According to her, ACA aims to introduce this approach in every district in Ghana. She noted that the initiative has already started in the southern part of the country, where they are currently implementing in five or six districts. She further said that, nationwide for now, they are working with about 200 communities.

In addition, she mentioned that alongside the 100 communities that have already passed through the program, the total number of communities is 307.

She also explained that in places such as Nkronza, communities that went through the FCAP continue to meet every week even after the projects are completed. She said they have gone on to implement additional projects with no support from the government or other NGOs. She described FCAP as a way to “ignite the spirits” of the people helping them to take initiative and learn how to do things independently.

Nana Ama Nketia-Quaidoo, the Director of Community-Driven Development (CDD) at Advocates for Community Alternatives (ACA), has indicated that over 100 communities in the West Mamprugu Municipality will benefit from the Community-Driven Development Alternatives in the North East region of Ghana.

She hinted that the Community-Driven Development (CDD) projects are owned by the communities. She noted that ACA will support the first set of 50 communities, and that an additional 50 communities will benefit in 2027. Under the program, each community will create its own bank account and receive 800 dollars, while the Assembly will also receive 500 dollars to support the communities’ facility processes.

The main purpose of the Community-Driven Development (CDD) Director at Advocates for Community Alternatives (ACA) is to plan, supervise, and manage all community-led development programs. This is aimed at helping threatened West African communities take control of their futures.
