Ghana Police Arrest "Prophet" Ebo Noah for Spreading Doomsday Flood Panic

Ghanaian authorities have arrested Evans Eshun, a 33-year-old self-proclaimed prophet popularly known as Ebo Noah, for sharing false prophecies online that caused widespread fear and alarm.
He was picked up on December 31, 2025, at his home in Weija-Gbawe, Greater Accra Region, by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.

Ebo Noah went viral in 2025 after claiming divine revelations of a catastrophic global flood starting on Christmas Day, December 25. He said it would rain non-stop for three years and "destroy the world," urging people to repent and even building what he called modern "arks" to save believers.
His videos and posts attracted millions of views, drew visitors to his sites, and sparked real panic—some people reportedly traveled from abroad, donated money, or made drastic preparations.
When December 25 passed without incident, he later claimed God postponed the disaster due to prayers.

Police say his actions violated laws against spreading false information that causes public fear and panic. He remains in custody assisting with investigations—no charges have been announced yet.
This arrest highlights Ghana's growing crackdown on misinformation, especially dangerous prophecies during festive seasons. Authorities remind everyone to verify information before sharing to avoid unnecessary alarm.

Former Vice President and leading contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to put Ghana's interests above personal differences as the NPP gears up for the 2028 elections.

In a heartfelt New Year message to NPP supporters, Dr. Bawumia stressed that winning power back in 2028 is the party's main goal—and it should come before any internal rivalry.
He warned against letting rumors, distractions, or divisions weaken the party, saying such issues only help their political opponents.

To every NPP member, let's keep our eyes on the prize. We must win 2028 for Ghana's sake," he said.

Dr. Bawumia urged everyone to avoid personal attacks during the flagbearership contest, which is set for January 31, 2026. Instead, focus on ideas, vision, and policies.
He explained that negative in-party fighting gives ammunition to rivals and could hurt the NPP's chances with voters.

A united, positive campaign, he added, will make the party stronger and more appealing to Ghanaians looking for a return to NPP leadership.
With recent changes to broaden who can vote in the selection, this contest marks the official kickoff for the party's 2028 preparations. Dr. Bawumia's message is a clear call for discipline and teamwork to rebuild after recent challenges.

Historic Moment: Sudan Reach AFCON 2025 Knockout Stage Under Ghanaian Coach Kwesi Appiah!

In an incredible turnaround, Sudan have qualified for the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco – their first knockout appearance in 13 years!

The Falcons of Jediane (Sudan's nickname) secured their spot as one of the best third-placed teams, thanks to Morocco's 3-0 victory over Zambia on December 29. This result pushed Sudan through even before their final group game.

Sudan finished third in Group E (with Algeria, Burkina Faso, and Equatorial Guinea) after a key 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea – only their **second AFCON victory since winning the tournament as hosts in 1970, and their first since 2012.

They lost 0-2 to Burkina Faso in their last match but had already done enough to advance. This is huge for a team playing amid ongoing conflict back home – football bringing joy and unity to the nation.

All credit goes to calm and experienced **Ghanaian coach Kwesi Appiah**, who has built a resilient, disciplined side. His leadership has turned Sudan into surprise contenders, defying the odds against stronger teams.

Sudan now join Africa's big names like Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, and Ivory Coast in the knockouts. They face a tough test next, likely against Senegal, but they're dreaming big and ready to keep fighting.

What an inspiring story – proving football's power to uplift even in tough times! 🇸🇩⚽

Ghanaians are starting 2026 with increased costs for electricity and water as new tariffs approved by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) take effect today, January 1, 2026.

Electricity prices will rise by 9.86% for all customers—homes, businesses, and industries alike. Water tariffs will go up by a steeper 15.92%across all categories.

These changes are part of a major five-year plan (2026–2030) under PURC's Multi-Year Tariff Review. The goal is to help utility companies like the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Water Company invest in better services while keeping prices fair for consumers.

The decision came after months of meetings with stakeholders, public hearings across regions, and careful reviews of what utilities need to operate.

Key reasons for the increases include:
- A shift in how electricity is produced: More reliance on thermal power (up to 78.79%) and less on hydro (down to 20.90%), which costs more because of fuel prices.

- Economic factors like an expected exchange rate of about GH₵12.01 to $1 and inflation around 8%.
- Higher costs for natural gas used in power plants.

The rates will stay fixed for the five years but get checked and possibly adjusted every three months for things like currency changes, inflation, or fuel costs that utilities can't control.

For the first time, the plan also covers the cost of supplying electricity to remote island communities through mini-grids, helping more people get reliable power.

While the hikes may strain budgets amid rising living costs, PURC says they are needed for better service quality and long-term reliability. Many Ghanaians have expressed concerns, but the Commission promises to keep watching utilities closely to ensure good value.

Big news for Ghana football fans—former Black Stars captain André "Dede" Ayew has officially joined Dutch Eredivisie club NAC Breda on a free transfer!

The 36-year-old experienced forward, who has been without a club since leaving French side Le Havre in May 2025, signed a deal until the end of the current season. There's also an option for the club to keep him for another year.

NAC Breda, currently at the bottom of the Dutch top league and fighting to avoid relegation, brought in Ayew for his leadership and goal-scoring ability. He'll team up with fellow Ghanaians Dennis Odoi and Kamal Sowah at the club.

Ayew said he's excited about the challenge: "I love tough situations, both for myself and the team. Staying in the Eredivisie is all that matters right now—I’ll do everything to help my teammates."
The club's technical director, Peter Maas, added that Ayew's experience will be key in their survival battle, praising his professionalism and fitness (he's been training at his family's Nania FC in Ghana).

In his amazing career so far: over 700 club appearances 187 goals and 61 assists. He's played for big teams like Marseille, Swansea, West Ham, and Al-Sadd, plus more than 120 caps for Ghana.
This move keeps Ayew in top-level European football and could boost his chances of playing at the 2026 World Cup. At 36, he's showing no signs of slowing down—pure inspiration!

Unidentified gunmen have killed one police officer and injured several others in a late-night attack on the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway in northern Ghana.

The incident happened around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Karimenga, a community along this buGunmensy route known for past security issues.
According to policGunmene reports, the attackers first ambushed a passenger bus, triggering a distress call. Responding officers arrived quickly and managed to stop the initial assault, forcing the gunmen to flee into nearby bushes.
But the attackers came back for a second strike, this time targeting the police checkpoint at Karimenga.

In the chaos, one officer who was sitting down was shot in the head from behind and died instantly. Two other officers who fired back at the gunmen were hit in the legs and are now recovering in a hospital (location kept secret for safety).
The reason behind the attack is still unknown—police say it could be linked to highway robberies, which have happened on this road before.
For now, all police personnel have been pulled off the highway while a full investigation gets underway. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help catch those responsible.

This shocking event highlights growing concerns about safety on major roads in the region, and many are calling for stronger security measures to protect travelers and officers.

Shocking Truth: Daily Bottled Water Drinkers Swallow 90,000 Extra Tiny Plastic Pieces Every Year

New research shows that people who rely on bottled water every day are taking in a huge amount of invisible plastic particles—about **90,000 more** each year compared to those who don't.

These tiny bits, called **microplastics**, are so small you can't see them, but they come straight from the plastic bottles into the water you drink.

The study comes from researcher Sarah Sajedi at Concordia University in Canada. She looked at over 140 scientific papers and found that everyone gets some microplastics from food and water—around 39,000 to 52,000 particles a year on average. But bottled water adds a massive extra load.

Sajedi got inspired after seeing beautiful beaches in Thailand covered in plastic trash, mostly bottles. That pushed her to study how these bottles harm our bodies.

Microplastics are pieces smaller than 5 millimeters, and even tinier nanoplastics are under 1 micrometer. They break off from bottles during making, storing, shipping, or just from heat, sunlight, or squeezing.

Once swallowed, these particles can get into your blood, reach organs like the brain or heart, and cause ongoing inflammation. They might mess with hormones, hurt reproduction, damage nerves, or raise cancer risk. Scientists aren't 100% sure about long-term effects yet because testing is hard and tools are expensive.

"Bottled water is okay in emergencies, but not for daily use," Sajedi says. "We need to think about possible harm over time."

Governments are banning things like plastic bags and straws, but bottled water isn't tightly regulated, even though it directly affects health.

Experts say switching to tap water or reusable bottles is better for your health and the planet. Safe drinking water should not come with a side of plastic.

This research highlights a hidden pollution problem and calls for bigger changes to protect our health.

Inmates Turn Prison Yard into Stunning Fashion Runway at Historic Kumasi Show

In a groundbreaking event, inmates at Ghana's Kumasi Central Prison put on an amazing first-ever fashion show on Monday, December 29, 2025. The prison yard was transformed into a colorful runway where prisoners proudly modeled clothes they helped design and make.

The inmates walked confidently, showing off beautiful outfits like traditional Ghanaian kente cloth, batik and tie-dye patterns, northern smocks, and modern casual or formal styles. Many of these clothes were sewn by the prisoners themselves through vocational training programs that teach useful skills.

Female inmates from the nearby Kumasi Female Prison joined in, led by their officer, CSP Florence Akua Asabea Taylor. This teamwork between prisons highlighted how such events help with rehabilitation and building new abilities.

Special guests, including police from other agencies, politicians, fashion experts, donors, and journalists, watched the show. They walked a red carpet before sitting down to enjoy the displays. Several Ghanaian brands supported the event, such as UNIJAY Limited, Horseman Shoes, Starladin, Rash Tailor, Golden Ohemaa’s Collection, House of Kotobre, LOD Creations, AY Joe, and Manuel Clothings and Textiles.

The masked models mixed Ghana's rich culture with fresh modern looks, earning loud cheers from the crowd for their creative and well-made pieces.

The prison's leader, DDP James B. Mwinyelle, said the event showed what inmates are truly capable of. "This isn't about being locked up—it's about showing their talents and how we help them change and fit back into society," he explained.

CSP Florence Akua Asabea Taylor praised the inmates' hard work and strength, adding that these skills will help them find jobs and build better lives after release.

This fashion show was the exciting grand finale of the 2025 Inmates Funfair, a week-long celebration starting December 22 with games, activities, and empowerment programs.

The event supports the Ghana Prisons Service's focus on reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration—proving that prisons can be places of positive change and hidden talent.
