The Director of the Global Quality Assurance Association (GQAA), Dr. Violet Makuku, has called on educational institutions to stop penalizing students for incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their academic work.

Speaking at the 5th Quality Management Seminar in Kumasi, Dr. Makuku emphasized that rather than punishing students, educators should focus on equipping them with the skills to use AI responsibly and ethically. She noted that AI is not a means to bypass learning, but a powerful tool to enhance productivity and academic outcomes in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Highlighting GQAA’s mission, she added that the organization is committed to building practical, real-world skills through targeted training, curriculum development, and capacity-building workshops.

*NSMQ 2025* |

Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ Senior High School has secured a spot at the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) with a remarkable comeback in the Ashanti Regional qualifiers. Initially trailing behind, they overcame a strong early lead by Juaben SHS, who opened the contest with 21 points in Round One.

Yaa Asantewaa, tied with Islamic SHS at 12 points, gradually closed the gap over the next two rounds, moving into striking distance by the end of Round Three with 31 points, just behind Juaben’s 33.

In a dramatic final round, Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ SHS surged ahead, finishing the contest with 40 points and clinching victory. Juaben SHS, unable to maintain their momentum, ended with 33 points, followed by Islamic SHS and Fomena T.I. AMASS with 27 and 25 points, respectively. The win marks a powerful return for Yaa Asantewaa, who missed out on the national stage in 2024, and reasserts their status as a strong contender for the 2025 NSMQ championship.

Around 300 students from the Savannah, Upper West, and Northern regions have graduated from the second cohort of the Telecel DigiTech Academy, marking another step in efforts to close the digital skills gap in Ghana.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Telecel Ghana Foundation, reflects the organisation’s commitment to providing practical technology education and equipping young people with the tools needed to thrive in a digital economy.

Delivered in partnership with Asustem Robotics and the Mingo Foundation, the program runs parallel to the Ghana Education Service curriculum and blends classroom instruction with virtual learning. Students also gain hands-on experience by designing and building functional prototypes, ensuring they graduate with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
