UPDATE ON SOME OF THE VANDALIZED ITEMS AT AMANIAMPONG SHS

Following our earlier report on the withholding of the WASSCE results of 1,357 students of Amaniampong Senior High School, here is an update on some of the reported vandalized school property:

* Writing on the walls of the school.
* Destruction of students’ beds and louvre blades
* Destruction of school chairs, doors and tables.
* Breaking of sections of the school walls on several occasions, particularly the wall close to the to***co area.

On the students who were arrested:
The reported arrests relate to a separate matter that occurred before the students completed school. The students were allegedly caught destroying CCTV cameras mounted at strategic points within the school. The matter is currently being handled by the police, and the students are reportedly facing charges before the court.

Regarding the withheld WASSCE results:
For parents who have already paid the charges, we understand that the Headmistress has written to WAEC through the Regional Education Directorate, requesting the release of the results. They are hopeful that the results will be released as soon as possible.

We have been informed that the charges also affect Form 2 students. Students who were allegedly actively involved in the vandalism were not reported during the period when these incidents were taking place. (SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING)

NOTE: some of the incident took place even before they started their final exams.

Amaniampong SHS: Why Are 1,357 Students Being Made to Pay GH₵250 Over Property Damage? 🤔

1,357 completed students cannot access their final WASSCE results due to the vandalisation of school property by students who last wrote their papers.

If I completed school and left, and others did the same, while the final batch later completed and some items were damaged, why must everyone pay? [What a parent send to my inbox]

A GES release dated June 30, 2026, stated that: “Students who wilfully damage, destroy, or vandalise school property shall be surcharged for the full cost of repair or replacement of the damaged property in accordance with the provisions of the GES Code of Conduct, Rules and Regulations and the disciplinary procedures governing students in second-cycle institutions. Appropriate disciplinary measures should also be applied where necessary.”

There are reports that some students were arrested over the damages. What happened to those students?

Now, every completed student is being made to pay GH₵250 before accessing their final results with some paid already but still cannot access their results.

GH₵250 × 1,357 students = GH₵339,250.

Initially, each student was to be charged GH₵437, according to our checks, and we are told the assessment team was from the Mampong Municipal Audit Department.

Asante Mampong Report is yet to ascertain the exact items that were damaged at the school, which is demanding GH₵250 from each of the 1,357 completed students.

Hon. Ampratwum, as I have said before, you are one of the most credit-hungry politicians Mampong has ever seen.

If you care to know, some of the major developments you seem to suggest happened only because of your representation were actually formerly executed under previous MPs.

Take from St. Monica’s main entrance, famously described at the time as “woada bi a nyane” to lorry station. The roads through Midway Street, Afrifa Street, Site, Newtown, Akyeremade, Old Mayanka, Mampong to Nsuta, Lorry terminal and Ohyeaman Street were in terrible condition. Some were virtually unmotorable. Yet, under previous MPs, these roads were worked on and transformed.

Hon. Addai Nimo, despite serving as an opposition MP, was able to secure an ambulance for the hospital and that ambulance is still serving the people.

Meanwhile, under your government, you promised during the sod-cutting ceremony for the Regional Police Command project that a vehicle would be provided. Till today, where is it? Not even a common motorbike has been presented but you brag as if they did nothing for the constituency.

And then there is the question of your much-publicised lobbying skills, connections and influence captured in this video.

You lived at Adweeho before moving to your new residence. With all these connections and influence, why couldn’t you secure even a proper gutter for the area or use those same connections to get the road around your former residence fixed?

As Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, why couldn’t those connections help establish a passport processing centre in Mampong, especially when Agya Wiase has provided a decent facility for the Immigration Service?

We have seen astroturfs scattered across the country. With all your influence, why has Mampong struggled to secure one?

Yes, you have helped some constituents secure opportunities as watchmen, labourers, cooks and other jobs. Those opportunities are appreciated. But “susu dwa woanum” that alone does not make an MP extraordinary.Perhaps, in the end, the traffic light will be what people remember.

Politics is not about claiming every achievement. It is about leaving a legacy that the people can see, use and remember.
