Sayibu Hamdaway Rises as Leading Contender in the 58th NUGS General Secretary Race.

Sayibu Hamdaway, a visionary leader and passionate student advocate, has risen to prominence as a leading contender in the 58th National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) General Secretary race. His candidacy is defined by his unwavering commitment to student welfare and development, backed by an impressive track record that has garnered him widespread recognition.

In an exclusive analysis of the candidates vying for this prestigious role, Sayibu has established a solid reputation over the years due to his tireless efforts in advancing student welfare. He has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have had a lasting impact on students nationwide. As the Upper West Regional NUGS lead advocate for the "See Something, Say Something" campaign, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security, Sayibu played a pivotal role in promoting student safety and awareness. His advocacy extends beyond security, as he has championed student loans, awarded scholarships to brilliant but needy students, and led skills training programs. Through organizing summits and conferences, Sayibu has consistently worked to equip students with the tools they need for both personal and professional success.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting at Simon Diedong D***o University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), Wa, Upper West Region, Sayibu is widely recognized for his dedication, clear vision, and passion for transformative leadership. He has held several key leadership roles, including his current position as Chairperson of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the University Students' Association of Ghana (USAG). In the 2022/2023 academic year, he served as the Local NUGS President at SDD-UBIDS, where he made significant contributions to the development of his institution.

Sayibu's campaign for General Secretary is founded on the belief that "the role goes beyond mere documentation and administrative duties—it is a platform to amplify student voices, address their pressing concerns, and advocate for their needs at the national level." His campaign mantra, “Service without Borders,” reflects his mission to unite and advance the 12.5 million Ghanaian students he seeks to represent.

The analysis further indicates that Sayibu’s campaign is gaining significant momentum due to his focus on advocacy, inclusivity, and proactive problem-solving. With a proven record of service, Sayibu is well-positioned to lead NUGS into a new era of representation and leadership, distinguishing himself as the candidate most capable of elevating student voices and fostering unity across Ghana’s diverse student body.

With his emphasis on advocacy, inclusivity, and a hands-on approach to addressing student issues, Sayibu believes he is fully prepared for the NUGS General Secretary role. "My vision of active engagement and responsiveness ensures that, given the mandate, Ghanaian students will step into a new era of strong and unified representation," he said.

In this competitive race, Sayibu Hamdaway has emerged as the candidate to watch, with his leadership approach resonating strongly with students seeking transformative change and dedicated representation.

ASSEMBLY MEMBER HITS HARD ON FARM PRODUCE DAMAGED BY UNKNOWN CRIMINALS.

Hon. Amadu Kuri Hamid, the Assembly member representing Ponyentanga Electoral Area, has strongly denounced the recent destruction of a yam farm in Tendoma, a community located in Wa West District of the Upper West Region of Ghana. Unknown culprits, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in conflict with the farm owner, Mr. Kuusopuo Bakaar, used a cutlass to partially destroy the farm, which housed roughly a thousand mounds of yam. Sadly, the farm owner lost over 20-30 yam seedlings in the tragic event.

Hon. Hamid described the act as a curse for those who carry it out and called on the community to unite against such unwarranted destruction of seasonal farm produce, including tomatoes, yams, and others grown in the area. He expressed his shock and disappointment at the incident and warned that those who intentionally destroy their neighbor's property often face retribution from the future.

During an interview on the Yideme-Vuo show on Radio Progress 98.1fm, Hon. Hamid encouraged farmers to report such cases to the appropriate authorities for redress and urged them to stand firm in ensuring that the law takes its course on culprits when apprehended. He emphasized the importance of not interfering with the legal process to ensure effective punishment of criminals without prejudice.
