💔 Heartbreaking News

A 22-year-old woman, Gladys Naa Borkwei, has been accused of beating her young daughter to death at Ngleshie Amanfrom in a tragic incident that has left many in shock.

According to reports, the deceased was Gladys' third child, born to three different men. The little girl was rushed to a health facility in Amanfrom after sustaining severe injuries but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.

Speaking to EnMore Ghana , the suspect's mother, Honyefia, said she only learned of the incident after returning home from town. She explained that Gladys had informed her sister that the child had been taken to the hospital but did not disclose what had happened.

When she arrived at the hospital, doctors had already confirmed the child's death. Medical personnel reportedly found severe bruises on the girl's body, raising suspicions that she had been physically assaulted before her death.

Honyefia said the injuries convinced the family that Gladys was responsible for the child's death. She also alleged that her daughter abuses hard drugs, a problem she believes may have contributed to the tragic incident.

Police arrested Gladys Naa Borkwei in connection with the case, but she has since been granted bail as investigations continue.

💔🇸🇳 What should have been a proud World Cup journey for Senegal is slowly turning into a heartbreaking story of neglect and disappointment.

Behind the scenes, the Lions of Teranga are battling more than just their opponents on the pitch. Reports suggest players are still waiting for bonuses owed to them for winning the Africa Cup of Nations and securing qualification to the World Cup. The unpaid debts have reportedly cast a dark cloud over the camp at a time when unity and focus are needed most.

As if that wasn't painful enough, the team is said to be staying in accommodation that has left many frustrated. Due to cost-cutting measures, the federation reportedly did not travel with the team's chef, forcing players to seek their own meals from local stores because the food provided is not considered suitable for elite athletes.

Even more concerning, head coach Pape Thiaw is reportedly working without a contract and is owed six months' salary.

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu Arrives in Ghana After US Extradition to serve her 10 year imprisonment

Former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) CEO, Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, has officially arrived in Ghana following her extradition from the United States.

Her return brings closure to a 2-year legal process after she was sentenced in absentia in April 2024.

BACKGROUND OF THE CASE
Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted alongside former MASLOC COO Daniel Axim on 78 counts including causing financial loss to the state, stealing, conspiracy, money laundering, and breach of procurement laws.

An Accra High Court sentenced her to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour for:

1. Embezzling GH¢3.19 million during her tenure as MASLOC CEO from 2013-2016

2. Causing GH¢90 million in deliberate financial loss to the state

Key charges included withdrawing GH¢500,000 from Obaatampa Savings & Loans, diverting over GH¢1.7 million meant for a MASLOC sensitization program, and failing to fully disburse funds for victims of the Kantamanso market fire.

EXTRACTION TIMELINE
After the conviction, Tamakloe-Attionu was located in the US. Ghana submitted an extradition request in July 2024. US Marshals arrested her on Jan 6, 2026 at the Nevada Southern Detention Center. Ghana’s Ambassador to the US, Victor Smith, confirmed the court date for Jan 21, 2026. Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine later announced the US had completed the process in Dec 2025.

With her arrival in Ghana, she is expected to begin serving the 10-year sentence with hard labour.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Her return is being watched closely as a test of Ghana’s anti-corruption enforcement, especially for “politically exposed persons”. Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu had earlier urged the government and NDC to ensure she returns to serve her term to protect public confidence in accountability.
