The Minister, for Ministry of Sports and Recreation - Ghana, had the pleasure of hosting the management team of BIDEC INC and its partners behind the “World Cup Cheer Train” project — a unique initiative that seeks to position Ghana as the home for diaspora engagement during the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a mega World Cheer Village in Metro Atlanta (College Park City) expect to bring people African descent to enjoy the diversity of sports, tourism, economics and diplomacy.
Their bold plan to fuse tourism, sports, culture, and community around Ghana’s identity was not only inspiring but also aligned with our national vision. From activations during the Black History Festival in City of College Park Government, Georgia, USA to continental engagements that spotlight Ghana’s leadership, the opportunities are immense.
The Ministry assured BIDEC INC of the Ministry’s full support and also emphasized the importance of due diligence, stakeholder collaboration, and safety throughout the project rollout. We’ve agreed to set up a working team with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation - Ghana and Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts with representatives of City of College Park Government and other legislators from the State of Georgia, USA to guide this process forward.
Ghana’s place in global sports diplomacy and diaspora relations continues to grow stronger — and I’m committed to leading efforts that position our nation at the heart of it all.
