School feeding brouhaha, Upper West Regional Minister Response to Sissala West MPs' allegations......

I had decided not to respond to these wild allegations made against my person by the MP but the amount of messages I am receiving has compelled me to write.

When I received the letter asking me to forward details of the school feeding I did the following;

1. In the presence of Hon Pelpuo, Hon Jasaw, Reg Chairman and others I complained to the President on Thursday about what was happening with the school feeding and the President said he will look into the matter.

2. Further on Friday 16th May i held a meeting with all MMDCEs in the present of Hon Beyuo to explain to them what was going on and the steps being taken to address the issue. I called the Regional School feeding coordinator to also explain to the MMDCEs since she was dealing directly with the National Coordinator and her office.

3. I have not at any occasion spoken to the National Coordinator let alone retain 30%.

4. As an MP is was only proper to call me or any of the persons you are now accusing to verify or seek an explanation but not to rush to social media with such allegations

5. I wish to advise the MP that social media is not where the solution lies.

I wish you all the best of luck and we look forward to the end game. Thank you all and pardon me for my typos and grammar

My comment: I hope this brings back some form of sanity in the discussion. Let's endeavor not to put out false or misleading information especially when it is about others. Thank you

Wa: PURC embarks on public sensitization drive through its Coffee table initiative

The Upper West Regional office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission as part of sensitizing consumers of public utilities about the operations of the commission, carved out a well thought through initiative dubbed "the coffeE table initiative".

The initiative brings together consumers of Water and Electricity and officers of the PURC, where operations of the commission are explained to the consuming public while the public is equally offered an opportunity to voice out their grievances concerning the utilities services providers for further attention.

On May 5, 2025, the PURC team offered market women, traders and commercial vehicle drivers amongst others, a similar opportunity of interacting with the utilities regulators through the coffee table initiative organized at the Wa Central Market.

The citizens were also sensitized on their rights and responsibilities as consumers and as well as urged to take advantage of the commissions' Tariff Reckoner app and PECE.

The team further seized the opportunity and called on the consuming public to pay their utility bills timely to avoid disconnections and also continue to enjoy the quality services of the utilities services providers.

They assured the consuming public of their commitment towards protecting their interest while admonishing the public to eschew acts like illegal connections thus electricity and water theft that hamper the quality delivery of service by the utilities services providers.

The Commission also educated the citizenry on the need to conserve energy and prevent wastages that will lead them to paying more bills.

In furtherance, the team during the coffee table set-up a complaint desk for consumers to lodge their complaints on unresolved complaints with the utilities service providers for onward resolution.

Leaflets, posters on water and energy conversations tips were shared amongst the consumers present during the exercise.
