Wa, Upper West Region, Ghana — The Wa Community Co-operative Credit Union has once again demonstrated its commitment to community development, education, and social responsibility with a financial support of GH¢50,000 to the Office of the Wa Chief Imam to support education and other important opportunities for his people.

The significant intervention, led by the CHIEF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DR. The support was presented to the Wa Chief Imam and his administration following an appeal made for assistance towards educational activities and other areas requiring financial support. After careful consideration by the appropriate committee of the Wa Community Co-operative Credit Union, the request was approved as part of the Union’s commitment to supporting meaningful community initiatives.

He further encouraged the people of Wa to continue supporting the Wa Chief Imam and his administration so that they can successfully deliver on their vision, responsibilities, and programmes for the benefit of the community.
As part of his message during the ceremony, the CHIEF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DR. ABRAHAM AMBOMWIN DAKURAH, advised parents and guardians to begin teaching their children the importance of saving money from an early age.

Dr. Dakurah emphasized that financial education is an important foundation for personal growth, encouraging parents to make savings education part of the upbringing of their children so that the next generation can become more financially responsible and independent.

The Chief Executive Director also appealed to the Wa Chief Imam to offer special prayers for the Credit Union, its leadership, management, staff, members, and all its activities, asking for continued blessings, growth, and greater opportunities for the institution.

He expressed the hope that through unity, prayers, and continued commitment to service, the Wa Community Co-operative Credit Union would continue to expand its support to the people of Wa and the entire Upper West Region.

The presentation of the GH¢50,000 Education Fund serves as another demonstration of the Credit Union’s dedication to cooperative values, community empowerment, and its belief that supporting education is investing in the future of society.

TUNGSUNG 97.3 FM / YIRIMAMBO UW TV EXCLUSIVE: NPA REGIONAL MANAGER UPPER WEST REGION MR. OSMAN MAHAMA SPEAKS ON THE DANGERS OF COLLECTING FUEL FROM ACCIDENTED TANKERS
WATCH 10 MINUTES VIDEO ON THIS STORY

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), through its Upper West Regional Manager, Mr. Osman Mahama, has issued a strong safety warning to the general public, urging all Ghanaians to stop the dangerous practice of rushing to accident scenes involving petroleum tankers to collect spilled fuel.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tungsung 97.3 FM / YIRIMAMBO UW TV, Mr. Osman Mahama explained that petroleum products such as petrol and diesel are highly flammable and can cause severe explosions when handled carelessly, especially after a tanker accident
He cautioned residents of the Upper West Region and Ghana at large that what may look like an opportunity to obtain free fuel can quickly turn into a disaster, leading to loss of lives, serious injuries, and destruction of properties.

The NPA Regional Manager emphasized that accident scenes involving fuel tankers should be treated as danger zones, and members of the public must stay away and allow trained emergency personnel to manage the situation.
He appealed to traditional leaders, community members, drivers, transport unions, and all responsible citizens to support the NPA’s safety campaign by educating others about the deadly consequences of collecting spilled fuel.

“A few litres of fuel are never worth the life of any Ghanaian,” is the strong message from the NPA as it continues to promote safety awareness across the country.
