UPDATES ON THE ARREST OF SAFIANU OMARIO A.K.A SOLDIER
On Tuesday, 27th May, 2025, the prime suspect in the killing of the National Health Insurance Manager for the Bongo District was picked up by BNI officers in Zuarungu.
First Charge by BNI
Safianu, aka Soldier, who is one of the Bawku Mamprusis living in Zuarungu, has been on the list of the security agencies for some time due to his alleged involvement in attacks in Nangode, Bolgatanga, Walewale and many highway and target attacks of Kusaas. It is also revealing to know that the said Safianu "soldier" also played a key role in the assassination of one Mr. AA, the deputy registrar of the Bolgatanga Technical University a few years ago.
Information available indicates that Safianu is the gang leader of the Mamprusis for all these atrocities.
I want to draw the attention of state that,
Mr. Safianu (Soldier) is not only a killer but a fraudster. He forged his certificates that secured him his present job at Zuarungu District Assembly. He has been a member of staff of the Zuarungu District Assembly . Diligent investigations should go into this too.
It is interesting to note that, Safianu had his final NAPTEX exams written for him by his friends. He can't deny this. *He wrote only one paper by himself and failed it too.*
In summary,
1. The NAPTEX examination was written for him by friends. He wrote one of seven papers and failed.
2. His name wasn't captured in their graduation book of his year group.
3. The number in the certificate he is using now doesn't tally with his name.
After a series of questions of interrogations, he's admitted taking part in killing the NHIS Bongo manager, Mr. A.A etc.
CAUTION TO POLICE REGIONAL COMMANDER
Apart from the regional police command feverishly trying to conceal his confessions, *It has come to our notice that, the Upper East Regional, Bawku Div. Police commander (Mr. Adamu Seidu), and their counterparts have collected undisclosed sums of money and are planning to get him bailed by tomorrow. 30th May, 2025.*
The police chiefs should know that, both Killing and certificate forgery are both serious crimes in Ghana and the world as a whole. *If they facilitate the bailing process, they'll have themselves to be blamed.*
In Ghana, murder and manslaughter are punishable under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Murder is a capital offense, and the law previously provided for the death penalty as a mandatory sentence, according to the Criminal Offences Act.
Forgery in Ghana is also punishable under the Criminal and Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Specifically, Section 158 deals with the forgery of judicial or official documents, and Section 159 covers the forgery of other documents.
Ghanaians are monitoring the unfolding of events in this particular case. The Upper East police and the NIB should take a clue from the prevailing anticorruption wind across the country and be guided.
