This new community initiative invites individuals, families, clubs, schools, companies and organisations to replace short car journeys with walking, cycling, running or scooting, and to record their activity through the free Strava app. 📯

Swap your car for your trainers or bicycle when commuting to work or school throughout September! 👟🚲 As a part of OTWO Challenge this year, we are hosting a competition for the total largest distances traveled around Gib by foot or bike that month and want everyone to take part! All you need to do is download Strava, create a club, add your team (if applicable) and add Active Travel Month as a user. A leaderboard will be posted on our page every week of the month and there will be trophies for the highest scoring groups, companies and individuals.

Today celebrates everyone's most hated insect! 🦟 What is the point of a mosquito? Well, you will be surprised to hear that they actually play a very important part in holding our ecosystem together. 😦 While a potential vector of diseases, both larvae and adult mosquitoes are important prey in the food web for other wildlife. They also help with pollination and nutrient cycling within aquatic ecosystems, by consuming organic matter and releasing nutrients back into the environment! ♻️

¡Hoy se celebra el insecto más odiado por todos! 🦟 ¿Cuál es el propósito de un mosquito? Pues te sorprenderá saber que en realidad desempeñan un papel muy importante en mantener unido nuestro ecosistema. 😦
Aunque pueden ser vectores de enfermedades, tanto las larvas como los mosquitos adultos son presas importantes en la cadena alimentaria para otras especies silvestres.
También ayudan en la polinización y en el ciclo de nutrientes dentro de los ecosistemas acuáticos, al consumir materia orgánica y liberar nutrientes de nuevo al medio ambiente. ♻️

HAPPY AUGUST ☀️🌸🌼 Here at OTWO, we have some exciting news! As of now, we have decided to follow nature's clock and go quarterly, publishing a magazine issue at every official seasonal change of the year. This means our next issue will be on the 22nd September. We hope this will give us more time to improve the quality of our content and give your stories and submissions more longevity in our magazine. Thank you all so much for your loyalty and understanding, have a lovely remainder of your summer. x
